Dr. Ted Baehr: The Media-Wise Family
In the first half of today’s podcast, Mary chats with Dr. Ted Baehr, long-time authority on the media and the importance of having standards and guardrails in place to ensure that our kids are mentally and emotionally equipped to live as spiritually and socially healthy adults. Unfortunately, many Christian parents also partake in morally bankrupt, dark media that affects their walk with Christ and their day to day family life. Should families be arguing daily about their kids’ time on smart devices? Might that be a sign of an unhealthy view and place of entertainment in our households? Dr. Ted is Founder and Publisher of MOVIEGUIDE®: The Family Guide to Movies and Entertainment and Chairman of the Christian Film & Television Commission® ministry, as well as a noted critic, educator, lecturer, and media pundit. His life’s purpose is to be used of God to redeem the values of the media while educating audiences on how to use discernment in selecting their entertainment. Movieguide has 4,000+ Faith Based Articles and Movie Reviews to help families navigate today’s media. Following the chat with Ted, we continue to talk about media and families and how to protect our dearest gifts – the youngsters God has entrusted us with.

Replay – John Hopper: Finding Joy in Sharing the Gospel
[Original airdate: 4/11/24] Mary talks with John Hopper about making evangelism a way of life. John has discussed questions about God and life with Muslim clerics in Uzbekistan, Buddhist monks in Canada, slum-dwellers in Guatemala and tennis professionals at Wimbledon. Now, he serves as Houston Area Director for Search Ministries, a nationwide organization focused on creating opportunities for stimulating, sensitive and respectful conversations for those wrestling with life’s big questions. Prior to joining Search, John served for 16 years as a pastor at BridgePoint Bible Church in Houston. So many Christians want to share Jesus with others but don’t know where to start. In Giving Jesus Away: Finding Joy in Sharing the Gospel, John provides readers with clear principles and ideas on building friendships with unbelievers, starting natural and meaningful conversations that lead to Jesus, and sharing the gospel clearly. In addition, readers are coached on how to tackle their own fears as well as address the barriers that keep unbelievers from faith. He doesn’t just encourage you to jump in the water, he teaches you how to swim!

Sue Liebel: Pro-Life and Judging Rightly
Today on SUFTT, for the first half hour, we welcome pro-life lobbyist Sue Liebel from Susan B Anthony Pro Life America. We will be looking at the April 1 election in Wisconsin and it’s wide-ranging affect on all the states, due to the contest between conservative Brad Schimel and pro-abortion candidate Susan Crawford. Back in 2023, the state judiciary veered left with the defeat of conservative Daniel Kelly. This election as well, no less important for the complexion of the Wisconsin court, will be closely watched by all the states largely due to the pro-life issue. Sue will expound on the significance of it and Wisconsin’s current abortion status. In the 2nd half today, we look at some headlines regarding Israel, and also the latest series from Amazon entitled, “House of David”. It is faithful biblically, is it stuck in the woke spin cycle, or is it just so much fiction aka The Chosen? I would say at this point, if you plan to watch it, have eyes wide open. All this and more in this installment of Stand Up for the Truth.

Mike Gallo: When Pain Rewrites Your Purpose: A Survivor’s Journey with God
On this episode of Stand Up for the Truth, Dave Wager welcomes longtime friend Mike Gallo to share a deeply personal conversation about the spiritual lessons learned through cancer. Both men have experienced cancer up close—Mike as a survivor and Dave as the spouse of one. They reflect on the emotional toll cancer takes not only on the patient but also on loved ones, and how these intense moments of uncertainty can become some of the most spiritually rich times of life. Mike shares how his cancer diagnosis not only deepened his trust in God but completely reoriented his priorities, leading him to serve others more intentionally and find joy in seemingly small opportunities—whether in a hospital, at a youth camp, or during everyday conversations.
Their dialogue touches on the transformative power of suffering, the importance of walking closely with God before a crisis hits, and the surprising peace that can come when we release control and fully rely on Him. Mike emphasizes that while he would never wish for cancer, he wouldn’t trade the spiritual clarity and renewed purpose it’s brought him. Dave and Mike challenge listeners to examine their own faith—not just academically, but experientially—and to consider how they might serve others, grow in prayer, and live with greater intentionality regardless of their current health or circumstances.

Robert Maginnis: Preparing for Global Conflict
In this installment of today’s podcast, Mary chats with retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Robert Maginnis about his book, “Preparing for World War III”. Robert graduated from the U.S. Military Academy, the Naval Postgraduate School, the Command & General Staff College, the Defense Language School and the Army War College’s strategy course. He is an Airborne-Ranger infantry officer with service in four infantry divisions on three continents. So many accomplishments, far too numerous to list here, but he is an experienced and internationally known expert on national security and foreign affairs. In addition, Colonel Maginnis has decades of media experience as a columnist, a Fox News military analyst and as an on-air commentator for multiple radio programs and networks to include Salem Radio Network. Today’s subject might not be something we like to think about, but in our chaotic world, and when measured against the sure word of Bible prophecy, we know that wars and rumours of war are part of the package. In the book, he outlines 6 sections that help us add to our knowledge about such a world-realigning event. Is the world ripe for war? What have we learned from previous wars? What does the 21st century battlefield look like, in terms of technology and AI? What might some of the flashpoints be, and can it be deterred? Finally, how to prepare our local communities and what our role as Christians should be, our priorities. A fascinating hour with an experienced geopolitical icon.

Patrick Wood: AI As Endgame
Mary welcomes back Patrick Wood today, AI expert and a researcher’s researcher. Patrick knew what the Trilateral Commission and Club of Rome were before most any of us and has closely followed the trail of the globalist’s dreams of an automated world ever since. His knowledge of technocracy is second to none. Today we talk about AI as a playground, a control system, and an endgame not unlike what we read about in Revelation 13. The promise of AI in the 1950s was simply “intelligent machines”, but claims of actual intelligence on the scale of humans made in God’s image, well, is that even in the picture? What about sentience, a soul, an ability to sin? Those who bring it to life and want to dip their toes into the Singularity (living forever as a machine) have great dreams but is any of that even possible? Don’t discount deep deception on the order of Bible prophecy to be a huge part of what the world experiences, even believes, when the beast system rolls out. I truly don’t think we have any idea what this will become beyond any blueprints we are shown. AI is found in nearly every system on earth now, from science to philosophy to art. An in depth conversation with Patrick.
Check out his Technocracy Boot Camp here.

Replay – Jay Seegert: Stand Your Ground
[Original airdate 11/8/24] Today we welcome back speaker, author, apologist Jay Seegert of The Starting Point Project. Jay speaks to audiences on the evidence for the existence of God, evidence for the inerrancy and Divine inspiration of the Bible, worldviews and our “starting point”; creation vs. evolution, and the ongoing Bible vs. science controversy. In this podcast we chat about the many issues and challenges we continue to face as the worldviews of biblical Christianity and secular humanism clash daily. Is the church prepared for these challenges, and if not, why not? We can always study more of course, but do we prioritize it? How can we do better as we see 2024 wind down, post-election? Of course there are spiritual attacks on our own lives, distracting us from the task at hand. Is it possible to be fluent in prophecy? Cult apologetics? A conversation about all the issues and how to better “apologize” for our faith.

Headlines: Global Chaos – The Devil Never Rests
Note: We had some audio issues on the original file, apologies for any broken downloads.
Time to break out some headlines once again. Some might wonder why we do headline programs on Stand Up, and the answer is straightforward: Jesus tells us in Matthew 16:2-3 “But He answered and said to them, ‘When it is evening you say, “It will be fair weather for the sky is red,” and in the morning, “there will be a storm today for the sky is red and threatening. Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky but cannot discern the signs of the times?” Being alert and sober covers so much of our walk with the Lord, day after day – and prophecy is certainly part of that. As hard as it is to look at what the world is up to, we should at least have some idea of the bigger stories so we can continue to watch and prepare our hearts for His return. So today we will catch up on the world’s treatment of Israel and how God deals with that. Another fascinating headline has to do with Ezekiel 38 and those “horsemen” that are mentioned. If Russia’s army will be on horseback, how do we reconcile that with a high tech world that has completely altered the landscape of how the nations go to war? What is a Cossack anyway? Some headlines on that might surprise you. And in our Wars and Rumours department, updating Trump’s war with the Houthis. All that and more on today’s podcast.

Mike Jewell: Faith in Action for Vulnerable Families
Mike Jewell
Stand Up For The Truth returns today – Host Dave Wager and guest Mike Jewell, founder of Family Connect of Wisconsin. Mike shares his passion for supporting vulnerable children, particularly those in the foster care system or facing neglect. He explains how his organization connects churches, nonprofits, social services, and community members to provide practical and emotional support to families in crisis. The discussion highlights the importance of the Church stepping up to meet these needs, rather than relying solely on government systems.
Mike describes his personal experience as a respite parent, offering temporary care for foster children, and how this work has transformed both the children and his own family. He emphasizes the deep trauma many of these kids have endured, leading to behaviors rooted in fear and uncertainty. Through the Family Connect initiative, churches can step in by providing resources, mentorship, and a sense of belonging to these children and their families. He introduces Care Portal, a tool that connects agencies with churches to fulfill specific needs like providing cribs, food, or other essentials while also fostering relationships that can lead to lasting change.
The conversation challenges churches to be proactive in serving their communities, recognizing that meeting practical needs opens doors for sharing the love of Christ. Dave and Mike discuss the biblical mandate to care for the vulnerable and the opportunity for churches to make a real impact by forming relationships with struggling families. The episode ends with a call to action, encouraging churches to partner with Family Connect and step into the role of being a true refuge for children and families in need.

Together, they tackle the pressing issues of our time through the lens of God’s Word, challenging listeners to discern truth in a world of shifting narratives. From media deception to the spiritual battles we face daily, Jay shares insights from his journey and what led him to create “The Plumb Line”, a program dedicated to calling believers back to biblical foundations.
