Jameson Taylor: That Big Beautiful Bill; Character Matters; Protecting the Family
Jameson Taylor is director of the Center for Governmental Renewal at American Family Association/American Family Association Action. His mission is to equip Christian lawmakers to champion policies aimed at renewing and strengthening families and churches. He has a 20-year track record of advancing pro-life, pro-family, and pro-liberty policies in multiple states. In Mississippi, he helped draft the pro-life law that led to the U.S. Supreme Court Dobbs case – leading the effort to pass the 15-week abortion ban that resulted in the overturning of Roe v. Wade and is also responsible for helping pass best-in-the-nation welfare-to-work reforms in Mississippi. We have the privilege on today’s podcast to talk with him about several topics, including that Big Beautiful Bill. Don’t know what’s in it? Neither did I, because of the spin zone from coast-to-coast. We will sort that legislation out with today’s guest. Also we look at the importance of character in our kids upbringing, along with another important pursuit: protecting our kids online. Is Big Porn ever going to step up? Well, someone has to. And is DEI going away, what I call The Ideology Most Likely to be Rebranded for 2025?. A full hour with a warrior for life.

Eric Demkowicz: From Awana to the Air Force—A Story of God’s Guidance
In this heartfelt NEW episode of Stand Up for the Truth, host Dave Wager reconnects with longtime friend and retired Air Force pilot Eric Demkowicz to explore faith, military service, and the power of intentional community. Eric shares his story of coming to Christ as a child through Awana Clubs and how that early foundation carried him through a lifetime of service, including flying C-5 aircraft around the world. He emphasizes the spiritual challenges that come with military life—frequent moves, isolation, and shifting cultural pressures—and offers practical wisdom for young believers considering military careers. Together, Dave and Eric challenge churches to go beyond polite gratitude and build real relationships with military families, helping them stay grounded in their faith.
Later, the conversation turns personal as Eric reflects on losing both of his parents, facing cancer, and how God used those difficult seasons to deepen his dependence on Christ. He underscores the importance of being rooted in Scripture and surrounded by faithful friends who can remind you of truth when emotions run high. Eric’s stories—from flying into remote parts of the world to simply inviting others into conversation—illustrate how every believer, in any career, can be a light in dark places. It’s a powerful reminder that ministry often starts with one small invitation and that God’s faithfulness is evident even in life’s most turbulent moments.

Carl Kerby: Appreciation or Expectation; A Word View vs a World View
Mary welcomes back Carl Kerby, creationist and apologist at Reasons for Hope Ministry where equipping a new generation to boldly defend truth is the priority. Today we chat with Carl on two separate topics: “Appreciation or Expectation?”, and the one-letter difference between a “Word” view and a “World” view. What are the main things that separate the two approaches – Word and World (besides one lonely letter!) – for our understanding of life? Well, creation for one, which really does establish the ground work for all we believe. Is it chance or design? Other things that separate us from the world are how we value life, our moral base, our identity and our destiny. We also take a look at the difference between “appreciation” and “expectation”. One exists in the here-and-now; the other exists in the unknown future and can be a true relationship killer when we presume what we deserve. The opposite of appreciation is insensitivity, disrespect, callousness, and disapproval. If you have ever had a parent who was never satisfied, or a boss who took credit for everything, you know how it feels to be unappreciated, invisible, and devalued. What does the Bible say? All this and more from Carl Kerby, co-creator of “DeBunk’d” videos, “Weapons of Mass Instruction”, “Fast Facts” and much more. Their YouTube presence can be found here.

Flynn Huseby: Systems vs the Savior
Mary welcomes back Flynn Huseby to talk about the ascension of Jesus Christ and the beginnings of the church. Here on the podcast we have paid special attention to the events of Holy Week, the Road to Emmaus, and the beginnings of the church – and the confusion it sent through the believing Jewish religious system/believing community of the day. Speaking of systems, along comes the church and now the disciples are commissioned to make disciples as well. So much going on in this stretch of time, and yet here in the 21st century the church is still going. But what does it look like? What was it supposed to look like? We discuss the main categories in which the church has strayed from the simplicity of following Christ – a community of saints under the headship of the Lord Jesus, serving and lifting one another up, walking each other home. Evangelicalism more and more looks less like the original intent, and the enemy of our souls has been hard at work for centuries making sure that is true. Looking in the mirror as a church is never easy, but Flynn helps us sort a few things out.

Headlines: The Nations, They Do Rage
In today’s edition of SUFTT, we discuss the global attention on the nation of Israel, the only sovereign nation that seems to constantly be under the world’s microscope. As tragic as the incidences of campus antisemitism have been, this hateful ideology shows no sign of letting up. Just this week, a warning was issued for Jews and Israelis to be careful in Canada, and to limit their outward expressions of their faith and culture. This is something that many of us never thought we would see only a generation removed from the Holocaust era. What does the Bible say about this? Should the church be surprised? No, and at the very least, show increasing support for Israel and our local Jewish communities of faith, asking God what we might do to come alongside them. Then we talk about that mischievous AI, which appears to have a mind of its own in bypassing its own shut-down commands. Next, we cover the upcoming pride month by learning that many corporations are backing off from supporting that agenda, largely due to push back from the more morally minded among us. Finally, we look at paganism in the public schools, being forced on all students who find themselves unable to object. Time to hold these schools systems accountable. A full hour of headlines for the last week in May, 2025.

Mary Danielsen: It’s Foundational
As we bid farewell to the first half of 2025 and welcome the carefree days of Summer, Mary takes a look at stars, time, and how crucial it is to understand the witness of the heavens. Even on a foundational level, the heavens are a message system that show forth God’s glory. Many of us might look up night after night and enjoy the beauty on these warm evenings, but do we really understand that it is glory we are beholding? How does that provide the foundation for our faith, and where does the concept of time enter in? Eternity past, the present, the future, eternity future – are these just something to dwell in after we make our entrance into this life, or are they so much more? Even the very spot we put our feet every day outdoors is on something that was made out of nothing. Oh, and “He made the stars also.” If we really want to peel back the complexities of this stifling world system, and get down to basics, the primer that is the heavens is that great leveler – that thing that helps us begin to keep the main thing the main thing, and look forward to dwelling forever with the One Who made it all – and has put eternity in our hearts.

JB Hixson: Go and Make Disciples
Dr. JB Hixson
Mary welcomes back JB Hixson today to discuss discipleship. What does it mean to disciple, or be discipled? And why didn’t Jesus say, “go and make converts“? Much of the church equates the two but they are not the same concept. What exactly is a disciple? If we start there, it will be easier to define discipleship; but the general idea at some juncture is about a relationship, and from that comes a life-long process of learning, and growing, and resembling Jesus. Considering the seemingly stunted growth of so many church-goers, we might be able to deduct that in addition to a lack of Bible knowledge, there is little to no discipling going on, and where there is, depth is lacking. What are some of the ways the church can rectify this? How can we be more engaged with one another instead of disengaged? How does it translate into making disciples of all nations? Converts, yes. Disciples, yes. The church needs to get busy on the Great Commission! A thoughtful hour with JB.

Headlines: Messiah Mania, Population Puzzle, AI Army
On today’s podcast Tim and Mary look at several interesting news items for these last days. Jesus warns specifically in Matthew 24 that there will be false christs and false messiahs at the end of the age. Since he tells us they will be multiple, sometimes we might just brush off anyone who has an agenda, roll our eyes, and move on. But He tells us that for a reason; each fake prophet tells us a bit more about what these men will be like, and therefore, what to look for. A Muslim man has come out since Easter claiming to be the Messiah of the world, and so we will look at his agenda. Remember, the world will ultimately be neck deep in deception so that alone makes it an important topic to help us warn others. Also, a look at some disturbing anti-semitic developments which also prove that this eternal hatred is going on and more mainstream than ever before. We also look at a tech billionaire’s dream of an AI army, China’s alarming population plummet, and a few random items of interest. All in a day’s work, seeing what the world is up to in the last of the last days. Stay alert!

Mike Gendron: Rock of Succession, Rock of Salvation, or Rock of Offense?
Mary welcomes back Mike Gendron of Proclaiming the Gospel Ministries to talk about the intricacies of electing a pope, the response of the world, and why Protestants seem so enamored with the process. Watching the larger than life media makes one wonder why the talking heads and random celebrities even care about the process, or what that religious system believes. One gets the impression they wish they could have some sort of influence but of course that’s never going to be possible. We also talk about Catholic eschatology, and how to have meaningful conversations with Catholics who are most likely to be ferocious defenders of what they believe, for various reasons. Many of us have a great mission field with Catholicism and it’s wise to armour up about what they believe and why – and the spiritual stronghold it is. A helpful – and hopeful – hour.

John Haller: The Middle East – Losing the Plot
How many films have we watched in which the plot gets so bogged down you want to run from the theater? We might even know how it ends, “predictably” even, but things get so complicated in the middle you wonder if it will ever be resolved. As Bible students watching the Mideast, we often feel that way, especially with our current admin believing that everything is resolvable ultimately. Simplistic perhaps, especially where God’s acreage is concerned. Today we welcome back John Haller and try and make sense of all the plot twists. I know I am really having trouble following, and if you feel that way, you are not alone. Bring popcorn. Topics include the first Syrian visit with the US in 25 years; what Trump is hoping for following their protracted war. We also look at the Gulf Cooperation Summit and the big price tag on defensive weaponry that Gulf States are shopping for. Saudi has a big desert city in their sights, is it even possible to finish this incredibly ambitious project? We talk mostly Mideast today, and it’s been a whirlwind week.
