If you wonder how to combine a career in the private sector and business development with international development and gender inclusion, this is your chance to hear from Ellen Maynes who is part of the Gender and Economic Inclusion Group at the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group- which is focused on working with the private sector in developing countries. In Episode 18 of Season 6, Ellen, a Rotary Peace Fellow, shares her over 20-year long journey working across the private and nonprofit sectors in Asia Pacific and Europe prior to joining the IFC. For twelve years, she worked for global brands like Ford in Australia and Volkswagen in Ireland. Ellen has a Bachelor's degree in Business (Marketing) and Master of International Development from RMIT University in Melbourne. Is it possible to run your own business firm while simultaneously lead an international peace and development organization? For Bolivian native and Houston resident Ximena Murillo, not only is it possible, it is her life. Janet Murdock has 20 years of experience as an accomplished trilingual peacebuilding/conflict resolution practitioner with broad government and international experience. In Episode 14 of Season 6, Janet shares how she grew up in rural Brazil, raised a daughter by herself, worked and studied full-time to be one of Latin American's most recognized professionals in the conflict resolution space and eventually become the first female peace advisor for the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund. Janet is currently the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund Coordinator in Guinea-Bissao. She is currently busy setting the first restorative justice system financed by the UN.
