Autism Jargon: Establishing Operation

Establishing Operations are things or circumstances that make it more likely for a behavior to occur. If you give a person a lot of salty snacks they are more likely to drink a lot of liquid. If you drink more liquid to will need to be urinate more frequently. During potty training when you want more opportunities to teach you might have an Establishing Operation that a child has lots of access to salty snacks and preferred liquids!
