Special Edition: Climate Crisis in a Divided World

Climate change has become one of the most divisive political issues facing America. It didn't use to be this way. Gallup surveys show in the late 90s, about half of both Republicans and Democrats believed we were already seeing the effects of global warming and many in both parties also blamed human activity. But opinions have become more and more divided over the last two decades. What happened? We're talking about it with renowned climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe. She says it was her faith as an evangelical Christian that first inspired her to focus on climate change as a career and later to write the new book "Saving Us: A Climate Scientist's Case for Hope and Healing in a Divided World." She doesn't shy away from saying climate change is real. But she also focuses on finding common ground and calls on all political parties to pitch in with possible solutions.
