Ask Shannah: How to Master Your Money Goals
In this Ask Shannah episode, I'm sharing how to master your money goals inspired by a question from Amanda:"I love your podcast and have been listening for over a year now, being inspired and working towards my goals. Maybe my question isn't really a question but more like a request for a pep talk. I have 4 main money goals that I've been slowly working towards Paying off my student loans, saving 4 months of expenses in my emergency fund, saving $3,000 in what I like to call an "oh shit fund" (I can access this savings account much quicker than my emergency fund), and finally saving for a house. For the past 6 years, I've been laser-focused on paying off my student loans, but because of the pandemic, I decided to shift my focus on hitting my emergency fund goal. Recently, however, I've been struggling with staying focused on achieving the emergency fund goal. I now have only $9,000 left to go of my student loans, and I'm also only 3 months away from hitting my emergency fund goal, but now I'm getting the urge to use basically all of my emergency fund money to pay off my student loans now. I know if I did this, I would feel AWESOME, but know I would feel anxious knowing I had no emergency fund to fall back on. Do you have any suggestions for staying focused on one goal before making a rash decision and jumping to another goal? I know these are all good problems to have, but I would really love some words of encouragement or advice on how to stay focused on my current goal."SPONSORSThanks to Factor for sponsoring the show. Is It A Good Time To Buy Real Estate with Selling the Hamptons Star Bianca D'Alessio
In this episode of Everyone's Talkin' Money, I'm back with another fascinating topic: home buying in today's market and whether it's a good time to buy real estate. I was walking around my neighborhood this morning and was blown away by the number of people selling, buying, and remodeling houses. I was thinking there’s so much talk about high-interest rates and how expensive housing prices have gotten, but it doesn’t seem to be deterring anyone from going about their normal buying, selling, and remodeling home business. So then I thought, if you’re looking to buy your first home, is there ever a “right” time to buy? Lucky for us, Bianca D’Alessio, who is the Ranked #1 Real Estate Broker in New York and New York State and #14 in the Nation for 2022, manages a $10B real estate portfolio for Nest Seekers International and is the Star of Selling the Hamptons on Max(formerly known as HBO) is our guest. You'll learn:
How to pave your way to first-time home buying in this market
How to be competitive when buying
Why lenders are more concerned about your credit card debt than your student loan debt
If the Airbnb market is really a bust
Why staying in your home for 10+ years is probably the best investment you’ll ever make
Oh, and we’ll also talk some dirt about Selling the Hamptons

Ask Shannah: Credit Card vs. Debit Card - Which Should You Use?
In this Ask Shannah episode of "Everyone's Talkin' Money," I'm diving into the debit vs. credit cards debate. We explore the similarities between the two - they both have logos like Visa or Mastercard and can be used for in-store or online purchases. But when it comes to safety, things get interesting. Gas stations, for example, can be risky spots for credit card scammers. That's why using a credit card is generally safer here, as it offers more protection against potential bank account drain. However, personal preference and money habits should also come into play. You'll learn how to figure out what card is right for you.Episode Timestamps:[00:02:30] Recognize and accept the current relationship with money. Use a debit card securely. Avoid unsecured internet connections for purchases and bank account checking.[00:03:22] "Protect network, guard numbers, prevent credit fraud."[00:08:25] Debt doesn't vanish; find a lighter way.[00:12:46] Use a debit card to avoid debt.[00:15:38] Credit cards automatically categorize expenses for you, allowing easy tracking and adjustments. Additionally, using them for monthly payments can earn rewards and bonuses.[00:17:44] Credit card cons: interest rates compound debt.[00:21:26] Credit card fraud protection: Quick and easy.[00:24:52] Gas station pumps are risky for card payments.[00:27:27] Credit card deposit for trips and car rentals. How To Connect with Shannah:
