A church of “cultural engagement,” emphasizing niceness at the expense of doctrine, inculcates the innocence of doves without the wisdom of serpents. Supporting controversial witness is a necessity in an orthodox Christian church. The gospel is a sword; so is the law. While my cancellation was afoot, I received many handwritten notes of encouragement from my fellow parishioners. Other parishioners were solicitous for my family and my mental state when I encountered them at worship. Just as my fellow board members at Ambrose stood firm in our mission, so did my church. I am grateful.Though churches should not teach their parishioners to run full-steam into machine-gun nests, the beauty of the martyrs is a story as old as Christendom. St. Ambrose’s courage to refuse Communion to Theodosius over the Massacre of Thessalonica was possible only because he feared God more than he feared man. As did St. Stephen in the face of stoning; as did Justin Martyr, beheaded for witnessing to Christ among the Romans; as did so many others. Such examples of faithfulness are crucial. Cancellation is not martyrdom, of course, but it is in the odor of it. And churches that recognize its nobility are much more likely to be rallying points for all that is central to Christian faith.”How Texas A&M Went Woke - https://americanmind.org/salvo/how-texas-am-went-woke/Claremont Investigation - https://dc.claremont.org/investigative-reports/Support the showSign up for the Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisFollow Full Proof Theology on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/fullprooftheology/Follow Full Proof Theology on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/fullprooftheology/

99 - Nancy Pearcey on The Toxic War on Masculinity
Nancy Pearcey is a professor of apologetics at Houston Christian University and a well established author on Christian worldview matters. In her latest book, the Toxic War on Masculinity, Nancy asks how it became socially acceptable to express open hostility against men. Books are sold with titles like I Hate Men and Are Men Necessary? Religion is often targeted as a prime cause of toxic behavior in men. Yet, surprisingly, the findings of social science debunk that negative stereotype. Research shows that authentically committed Christian men test out as the most loving and engaged husbands and fathers. They have the lowest rates of divorce and domestic abuse of any group in America. In this interview, we dive into her latest book exploring the topics of masculinity, feminism, headship, and competing scripts for men today. 98 - Conley Owens on the Dorean Principle, Parachurch Vigilantes, and Seminary Funding
In this episode with Conley Owens, we discuss his book on the Dorean Principle. The Dorean Principle, which is based on biblical concepts related to generosity and giving, takes aim at the commercialization of Christianity in the church today. We discuss the disruptive nature of such a principle as it pertains to conferences, seminaries, weddings, and para-church ministries. Owens even goes so far as to criticize the host’s Patreon tiers based on the Dorean Principle! Enjoy!Conley Owens is a Pastor at Silicon Valley Reformed Baptist Church - https://svrbc.org/Get a copy of The Dorean Principle: A Biblical Response to the Commercialization of Christianity here - https://thedoreanprinciple.org/Conley Owen’s bio from website - “Conley Owens is a software engineer by day, but hopes one day to do the work of a pastor full-time. He is the husband of one wife and the father of eight children. He enjoys cooperative games, couch surfing, casual skateboarding, and other peculiar activities. He has been a member of SVRBC since 2010, and a pastor since 2019.Conley was saved at an early age when he learned that blaming others for his sins didn’t actually fix anything. Instead, he trusted in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ and found true forgiveness. He discovered Reformed theology in college after accidentally getting involved with a cult and realizing he needed a better grasp on what the Bible teaches to keep such things from happening again.”Support the showSign up for the Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisFollow Full Proof Theology on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/fullprooftheology/Follow Full Proof Theology on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/fullprooftheology/

97- Auron MacIntyre on Conquest’s Laws and Conservative Christianity
In this episode, I talk with Auron MacIntyre, host of the Auron MacIntyre Show, about Conquest’s Laws. Robert Conquest was a British-American historian and poet known for his work on the Soviet Union. A long-time research fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, he developed two laws of politics (a third is considered John O’Sullivan’s first law, O’Sullivan being a British conservative political commentator and journalist):Everyone is conservative about what he knows best.Any organization not explicitly right-wing sooner or later becomes left-wing.The simplest way to explain the behavior of any bureaucratic organization is to assume that it is controlled by a cabal of its enemies.Auron and I discuss why these laws matter in politics and how they prove true in a variety of ways. We also seek to understand how they work their way out in business and church. Auron and I discuss church and state and why churches should not declare themselves to be “right-wing” but instead simply be Christian.Support the show!! - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisAuron MacIntyre Show - https://www.theblaze.com/podcasts/the-auron-macintyre-showSupport the showSign up for the Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisFollow Full Proof Theology on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/fullprooftheology/Follow Full Proof Theology on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/fullprooftheology/

In this episode, I talk with Pastor Michael Clary, of Christ the King Church of Cincinnati, Ohio, about his new book “God’s Good Design.” The issue of women in ministry is one of the most fiercely debated in otherwise conservative denominations and church networks. Michael and I discuss everything from praying to God as mother, to what a church looks like that is feminized, and finally his own experience as a pastor working out many of these issues. Michael’s book addresses a crucial issue for the church today and every Christian will be better equipped by it.
