Episode 123: How is NIL Affecting Recruiting at All Levels?
NIL - Name, Image and Likeness - has taken root across the college athletics landscape, and now we're feeling the effects of this landmark change in the way college student-athletes fund their education and their lives.
Joining us on this episode of the College Recruiting Weekly podcast is Matt Brown, creator of the Extra Points website and column...those two great resources, and everything else you might want to know, is at https://www.extrapointsmb.com/. I recommend you take a look, Coach!
We talk about what coaches have learned over the first several months of NIL after it was enacted in the Summer of 2021, why it matters to every coach/school/program no matter their division level, and what the future looks like (especially as it involves recruiting)

Episode 122: Why Money-Based Recruiting Decisions Are Trending Up (and What to Do About It)
In case you haven't noticed, money - how much your college costs, what kind of scholarship you're going to give your prospect, and the affordability of your school - is a topic of conversation with your prospects that is trending up.
Why? A bunch of factors that you have no control over: Growing inflation worries, job uncertainty, the financial impact of the pandemic, and just a general feeling that life (including college) is getting too expensive.
In this episode of the College Recruiting Weekly podcast, Dan Tudor explains the trend he's seeing out on campuses and in conversations coaches are having with parents, as well as recommended tweaks to a recruiting approach that coaches should consider taking.
* Note: Much of this conversation builds off of a previous money-related podcast episode we did in Episode 65, so you may want to listen to that first.

Thanks for listening and for telling other coaches in your department about the show, Coach!

Episode 121: BLM, Vaccines and Creating a Unique Team Story
How does your program address some of today's controversial, debated or topical news items?
Today on the College Recruiting Podcast, we talk with a coach who has not only embraced an open dialogue with his team about those things, but has gone out of his way to make it part of their overall team personality. It defines who they are as a program for their team, and for their recruits.
Some prospects may turn away, others may be attracted to Coach Gabe Bolton's women's soccer program at California State University, Stanislaus. Regardless, he says it has done a spectacular job of defining who they are, and who they're looking for when recruiting.
Listen to see if his approach might work for you and your program!

Episode 119: Six Coaches, Six Questions
In this episode, join Dan Tudor in a live roundtable discussion with six tennis coaches before the speech he gave at the ITA tennis coaches convention in Las Vegas in early December, 2021.
Topics that got talked about include how to differentiate your program from others in high level conferences, ways to manage a successful communication plan, expanding your recruiting geography, and more.

Episode 118: Assessing Your Prospect's Physical and Mental Health During Recruiting
It's a question more and more coaches are asking about:
How do I spot potential underlying physical and mental health issues with the prospects I'm talking to?
That's something our guest today has put a lot of though and research into. Vanessa Bogenholm is a popular personal trainer from California who works with rising athletes, and is the author of the book, "It's Your Body."
She talks with Dan Tudor about what she's seeing - both the positives and the negatives - with this generation of student-athlete, and how coaches can better assess and coach those athletes successfully through the recruiting process, and their athletic careers in college.

Episode 117: 6.5 Recruiting Priorities for Coaches | Fall 2021
It's time to hear from Dan Tudor, one on one;
He's got a lot of new information for coaches in this episode, focusing on everything from why you need to give the parents of your recruits reasons to NOT choose your competitor (without engaging in negative recruiting) to the difference between scouting and recruiting...plus a whole lot more (o.k., technically. just 4.5 more things, but it'll seem like a lot more when you hear what he has to say).
It's a good one, Coach! Take a listen, and if you have questions, contact Dan directly at dan@dantudor.com.
Thanks, Coach!

Episode 116: Defining You and Your Program to Achieve Excellence
How can coaches build a truly excellent program? By defining what 'excellence' is.
That's what today's guest would make the case for: Giancarlo Lemmi is the Associate Head Coach for Liberty University women's tennis, and has helped the program amass over 100 wins since 2012. In the process of his coaching work at the university, Lemmi has advocated for coaches to become better at defining their vision for their careers and programs, and the working towards achieving that vision. As a by product of that effort, Lemmi just published his first book, "The Court of Excellence: Using Your Life Story to Shape Your Coaching Philosophy".
The book is available here: https://amzn.to/3iEkFcu
Coach Lemmi also co-hosts the popular "The Christian Coach Podcast" - listen to their interviews with lots of fellow coaches and how they are building their lives, careers and program here:

His website also offers ways coaches can get help developing their own stories to define their program, and attract the right recruits:

Episode 115: Assessing & Developing Your College Program the Right Way
So many things can derail an otherwise smart, successful, competent coach on his or her way to building a great program.
That's what today's show features: A conversation with a college coach who wants to be proactive in recognizing where he can do better when it comes to controlling the direction of his program, and then taking action. This isn't a story about putting out fires and rebuilding, but one of making sure things keep going the right direction all the way through the process.
We talk about the right recruits to go after at a coach's particular college, timelines and deadlines, and how to develop a strategy for building a program the way this coach wants to build it.
You're going to learn a lot by listening-in to what we discuss with this coach!
