Pip caught up with Lowkey at 10pm on a Monday, and if you heard his previous appearance, you'll know that this is the kind of episode where you'll almost want to keep a pen and pad nearby to take notes. Of course it's good to have a wide range of views and opinions, but it's fair to say that Lowkey has a very well informed and sharp understanding of history and a present awareness that not everyone does. So in a time where you can hear random unfiltered opinion (and often opinion which wasn't invited either), it's a relief to have some sane, balanced and calm tones to hear on what's going on. A heavy and tough sounding viewing for sure, involving a traumatic period in the director's life (and one shared, unfortunately, with many) - but listening to Aodh talking about how he handled it, the ramifications and echoes, and the world he now navigates is an inspiring and positive thing indeed. This violent side of society doesn't pop out of nowhere, and it's interesting hearing about the tremors, potential causes and some of the accelerants that are in the mix with it all. It's a great thing to hear about the making of the feature and the documentary, and a cool way of looking at such a creative outpouring.
