(1 Tim. 2:1-7) Mrs. Balzer is Director of Christian Formation at JBU.

Joseph Jones, Ph.D., retired as president of Fresno Pacific University after serving several years as Vice Rector of the only Christian university in Pakistan. His prior 20-plus years in higher education included service as Provost at North Park University in Chicago; Dean of Education and Social Sciences at Messiah College in Pennsylvania; and Associate Professor and Chair and Director of Justice Studies at Taylor University, Indiana. Before becoming a professor, he served in criminal justice systems in New York, Oklahoma, and Virginia. He has a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice with a specialty in Planned Change. Dr. Jones’s work in higher education included building university/community and international partnerships with the aim to empower students, faculty, and staff to “Engage the Cultures and Serve the Cities.” He has served on numerous boards and traveled extensively with the aim of “extending the influence of the Kingdom of God through Christian higher education.” His visit is co-sponsored by the JBU Office of Diversity.

Keith Jagger (1 Tim. 1:12-20) Keith Jagger is the University Chaplain at JBU.

President Chip Pollard (1 Tim. 1:1-11) Dr. Pollard has been the president of JBU since 2004. Before coming to JBU, he taught English at Calvin College and practiced law in Chicago.

Rev. Dr. A.J. Swoboda (PhD, Birmingham UK) is Associate Professor of Bible, Theology and World Christianity at Bushnell University and lead mentor for the Doctor of Ministry Program at Fuller Theological Seminary on the Holy Spirit and Leadership. He is the author of many books, including After Doubt (Brazos). He lives and works on an urban farm in Eugene, Oregon.

This week’s chapel speaker for World Awareness Week was Reverend Dr. Eugene Kim. Dr. Kim was born in South Korea where he served as a pastor before becoming a full-time missionary in the Philippines for several years. He now ministers as lead pastor for Pleasant Valley UMC in Chantilly, Virginia.

This week’s chapel speaker was Dr. Michelle Kim. Dr. Kim is Associate Professor of Engineering at John Brown University.
