Google Gets a French Slap - DTNS 4071
France’s competition authority fined Google €500 million for not negotiating in good faith to pay news publishers for the right to show their headlines and snippets in search and news results. The Verge’s Chaim Gartenberg discovered that the iPhone’s built-in weather app on recent versions of iOS never shows the temperature as 69 degrees Fahrenheit instead showing 68 degrees or 70 degrees. The Audacity of Data Collecting - DTNS 4066
New owners of Audacity updated the audio editor’s privacy policy with language indicating it was collecting user data for analytics and legal enforcement. Nintendo announced a new version of the Switch game console with a 7-inch screen and 720p OLED display. And Norway passed a law requiring anyone being paid to post on social media to disclose if posts have been modified and how.
