Wave #2 was the charismatic movement often dated to 1959 where mainline churches encountered, what they called, "the baptism of the Spirit". From this wave emerged Charismatic Anglicans, Charismatic Lutherans, Charismatic Presbyterians, Charismatic Roman Catholics, Charismatic Methodists, and more. Wave #3 was the Neo-Charismatic wave where the gifts of the Spirit began making their way into evangelical churches. Today we are tackling the popular practice of "Fire Tunnels". A fire tunnel Is two lines of people facing one another (like a cheer tunnel that you would see in a football game) and as people walk down the tunnel those lined up on both sides lay hands and pray for the Individuals walking through the tunnel. Why Is this controversial? Well, there is a good bit of fotage online of people shaking, convulsing, and even falling to the ground as they walk through this line for prayer. Responding Cessationist - Kickstarter Trailer PART 2Recently a group of filmmakers at "logic on fire" released a Kickstarter campaign for a documentary/film called "cessationist". The Kickstarter page claims that this film will "lovingly and carefully" disprove the charismatic doctrines. And that sounded really nice until I watched the trailer, where cessationists say things like "Cessationism has fallen out of favor because commitment to the authority of scripture has fallen out of favor". The trailer is literally two and a half minutes of strawman arguments that may apply to the wildly extreme hyper charismatic fringes, but certainly do not apply to the growing movement of careful continuationist.
