Aurore Energy Research's Summer Renewables Summit took place at the Savoy Place Institute of Engineering and Technology. A common theme was whether the UK can meet the challenge of reaching net zero emissions by 2050, and deliver on the commitment that the UK made by signing the Paris Agreement. This lead to discussions on the implications for strategy. It also looked at the rapid acceleration in change that is likely to occur in the renewables sector as new technologies emerge, markets evolve, and governments push towards decarbonisation targets.Other themes included how to prepare for the future by examining the possible paths towards a zero-carbon power system in 2050, and drawing out the implications for how to act today to capture emerging opportunitiesThere was also- Examination of the role of government policy in delivering a zero carbon system.- Al look at the investment approaches that will deliver the most resilient results in a fast-changing market-The fundamental properties of merchant risk- Analysis of how the usage and pricing of corporate PPAs will develop in the years aheadAttendees were left with fresh thinking to inform their own strategy as well as an insight into what will motivate future changes in direction for other players in the renewables sector.Support the show
