Why is there such a discrepancy between our understanding of forgiveness and our willingness to grant it to others? Occasionally, it’s a major crisis that forces us to choose between forgiveness and unforgiveness (i.e. an unfaithful spouse, an unwanted divorce, an unfair termination from your job, sexual abuse you experienced as a child, a slanderous rumor that has cost you your reputation). But most of the time it is lesser offenses that we must deal with (i.e. being overlooked by a friend, a fight with our spouse). There is suffering in obeying God, but it does not compare with the blessings of obedience! Obedience is not obedience until we have completed all that we have been told to do. Our faith increases as our obedience continues. With each step of obedience comes a new level of faith. This lesson is about how God cares about the little things. He is always there to help us even when we think it's too small for Him. An iron axe head floating is not natural. God stepped in and did the supernatural so the man could return the axe he had borrowed.

This illustration shows us how easy it is to break a crayon and how being a bully breaks people. However, we are taught to love everyone. Only God's love can heal and mend the hearts of broken people. So always be kind so you aren't breaking people.

We must be prepared as we walk in the way of obedience. How can we grow spiritually? In this service we cover the Biblical way to prepare ourselves spiritually. Settle it in your heart that there will be hardships in serving the Lord. We do not need to look for opportunities to suffer. But as we live obedient to God they will present themselves.
