  My guest in this episode is Colin Murphy. Colin is the Director & Co Founder of a real estate firm called Torcana which buys, renovates and sells high cash flowing rental properties in Tampa Florida. Aside from being the in house “number cruncher” for Torcana, Colin spends most of his time bidding on property auctions, organizing direct mail campaigns, networking with local wholesalers and promoting their products to out of state and overseas investors. Colin started out in 2004 selling advertising space in real estate magazines and exhibitions in the UK & Ireland. It gave him a great insight into the industry as he was constantly meeting and pitching business to experienced professionals. In 2009 he set up Torcana.com with two friends the goal of offering marketing services to sellers of completed, tenanted and cash flow positive deals in the state of Florida. He started out in Orlando and moved onto St. Petersburg & Jacksonville before focusing more intensely in Tampa Bay from 2014 onwards. In 2015 Torcana purchased and renovated 28 single family homes. In 2016 we did over 70 properties and in 2017  are set to exceed 100 properties. Most of these are one story single family homes which they bought, renovated and sold "rent ready" to out of state and overseas investors seeking strong cash flowing rentals. They also add properties to their own rental portfolio on a regular basis. Their primary goal is to find ways of putting both their own funds and those of trusted clients to productive use without taking unnecessary risks.   My guest in this episode is Robert Murphy. Bob is a Research Assistant Professor at the Free Market Institute at Texas Tech.   He has a PhD in economics from New York University. After teaching for three years at Hillsdale College, Bob left academia for the financial sector, where he worked on portfolio management and economic research at Laffer Associates. Bob now is president of Consulting By RPM, and runs the popular economics blog “Free Advice” at ConsultingByRPM.com. Bob has testified before Congress and has given numerous interviews on TV and radio. He is the author of hundreds of articles and several books on economic topics aimed at the layperson, including The Politically Incorrect Guide to Capitalism (Regnery 2007), How Privatized Banking Really Works (2010 with Carlos Lara), and Lessons for the Young Economist (Mises Institute 2010). Keith Wasserman founded Gelt Inc. in 2008 during the height of the recession and financial meltdown. Keith has been involved in the acquisition of several commercial, industrial, and residential properties mainly in the Western US and now totaling over $1 billion in assets.  As co-founder of Happy Home Communities in 2017, Keith added the manufactured home venue to the growing list of entrepreneurial ventures he’s involved in. He oversees the company’s operations, marketing, investor relations, acquisitions, leasing, development, and disposition services. Keith not only leads Gelt’s charitable giving program but recently he and Damian Langere formed The Gelt Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public non-profit, whose focus is on helping renters avoid eviction and stay in their apartments during an unexpected financial emergency. Josh Satin joined Gelt in 4th quarter 2016 and has already been instrumental in several acquisitions as well as helping spearhead Gelt’s foray into the Manufactured Home arena. As Gelt’s Acquisition Manager, Josh seeks out, negotiates and helps finalize the purchase of properties to add to Gelt’s ever-burgeoning portfolio.  He has also been instrumental on the investor side both in building and supporting our Gelt's relationships and also in identifying new investors for select deals. Josh is a two-time All-American baseball player who was drafted by the New York Mets after completing his degree in Political Science from UC Berkeley in 2008.  He played parts of four MLB seasons before retiring in 2016.  Josh brings with him many years of organized team development, support and vision and is a true asset to the Gelt team. My guest in this episode is John Bogdasarian. John sets the strategic direction for the Promanas Groups’ investment portfolio. He structures the financial terms of all real estate acquisitions, is available to all Promanas Investors, and oversees all major decisions. John started Promanas with nine initial investors and has strategically guided the firm to serving more than 300 investors today. He prides himself on operating the company as a close-knit, boutique firm that creates substantial value for its’ member investors. Investing in a broad real estate portfolio has taught John the skills needed to achieve his goal of creating value for tenants and investors. Promanas currently has ownership in multiple entities with more than two million square feet of industrial, warehouse and distribution space as well as over one million square feet of office space. A graduate of the University of Arizona, John started his real estate career in 1996, working in residential sales. He quickly became a top-selling agent in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He soon shifted his focus to commercial transactions and obtained his Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation in 1999. CCIM designees are recognized as leading experts in commercial investment real estate and only 5-10 percent of commercial investment professionals have achieved the CCIM designation. My guest in this episode is Matt Miller. Matt spent the first nine years of his career as an Air Force pilot, before entering the corporate world to work at both Abbott Laboratories and Valassis. While a top performer for both companies, his long-term desire was to start a business and be his own boss. A good friend one day mentioned the gumball machines he and his young daughters owned, and that conversation began a ten-year business quest that resulted in the creation and subsequent growth of School Spirit Vending. Over the years, Matt’s diligent effort and entrepreneurial expertise has brought School Spirit Vending to the cutting edge of both the vending and school fundraising industries by combining these two ventures into one. Today, School Spirit Vending’s Hassle-Free fundraising program is helping schools across the country raise money in its own unique way. In addition to the basic in’s and out’s of running SSV, Matt is devoted to sharing his expertise with others.
