How Therapists Can Support Highly Sensitive Clients During Emotional Outbursts
Today I reflect on why we use the term "rude awakening" and how it relates to self-development and mental health. As someone who teaches and practices self-development and spiritual betterment, I can attest that my own awakenings have felt rude. Awakenings are not just one singular moment of realization but rather a series of uncomfortable layers that we expand upon. We resist change, and our ego fights against the new knowledge that comes with an awakening. I share my personal experiences with rude awakenings, the hard work that is therapy, and how to embrace the discomfort of what's coming. We must be open to change, accept that we can only change ourselves, and be kind to ourselves during the process. Ultimately, when we know better, we can do better. Struggling with emotional outbursts in therapy? These episodes often stem from deep-seated emotional pain and can be particularly challenging for Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs). I discuss how to handle client aggression with empathy, set clear boundaries, and use mindfulness to manage emotional triggers. Healing the inner child is key to overcoming these challenges and improving mental health. Learn practical strategies to foster a compassionate therapeutic environment and support clients on their path to wellness.

Compassionate Conversations on Abortion: A Journey Through Mixed Messages, Tribalism, and Critical Thinking
I learned about abortion through my experience of growing up in a Catholic society in New Orleans and listening to the conversations around me. Abortion is a complex issue that should be approached with an open mind and an open heart. People must be cautious of making assumptions and oversimplifying the issue, as well as falling into the "tribalism" of choosing one side or the other. It is important to explore all options without feeling pressure or shame and become your own authority figure. Cancel culture and media can lead to a heightened sense of fear and shame when discussing controversial topics, and it is important to be aware of psychological manipulation. It is important to evaluate what has been taught to us and make decisions based on our own mental health. How can HSPs maintain their mental health in a world dominated by cancel culture and tribalism? Join me as I discusses the importance of empathy and compassion in decision-making. This episode offers practical advice for overcoming fear and shame, helping Highly Sensitive People make informed, grounded choices. Learn why prioritizing quality of life is crucial for your mental health and discover strategies to navigate complex issues with nuance and understanding.
"We need to be able to evaluate things from our minds, our hearts, our intuitions. We need to be able to listen to people, share their stories and listen from all of those parts with discernment."
In this episode, I discuss:
1. How does the internet and social media play a role in creating assumptions about people?
2. What are the dangers of succumbing to tribalism and cancel culture?
3. How can we navigate complex topics such as abortion with an open mind and heart?

What I've Learned From My Clients PART 2 Love Yourself to Unlock your Freedom, Peace, and Joy, and Mental Health
Love yourself to unlock your freedom, peace, light, and joy. Navigating relationships with narcissistic or low-empathy parents can be complex for highly sensitive individuals, often leaving them feeling anxious or self-doubting. Embracing the reality of one’s upbringing and committing to self-love and healing can foster resilience and improve mental health, setting the stage for inner peace and healthier connections in life.
I have learned an important lesson from my clients about parenting and relationships - that it is necessary work to figure out how to negotiate with parents who have a mix of narcissistic and warm traits. I have also learned that some families have a level of mind control and dysfunction that is cult-like, and that it is important to draw boundaries and speak up for yourself. In addition, I have seen the benefits of unconventional therapy including psychedelics. Finally, I have learned that love is more than just a feeling, but a practice, consistency, faith and respect for yourself and others.
"What doesn't kill us does make us stronger. That cliche is true. And after it makes us stronger, it also helps us become freer."
Here's what I cover in this episode:
1. How can understanding one's own family dynamics help bring peace and freedom?
2. What are the potential benefits of using psychedelics as a mental health treatment?
3. What does it mean to practice self-love, and how can it help us relate to others?

How Existentialism Can Empower HSPs to Transform Their Mental Health
Existentialism is a philosophical framework that emphasizes personal choice and the creation of meaning in life. This belief is centered around the idea of freedom of choice, that we have the power to make choices in life, regardless of our circumstances. It also involves rejecting the victim mentality, taking control of our lives and making choices that positively impact us. Victor Frankel, a renowned psychiatrist, explored the idea of finding meaning in life through his book, "Man's Search for Meaning." He encouraged individuals to forge their own path and create meaning in their lives. Existentialism also touches on the concept of existence preceding essence, questioning our beliefs, embracing personal responsibility, authenticity, and recognizing the absurdity in life. Are you ready to unlock the power of personal choice and find deeper meaning in life? In this episode, we delve into how existentialism empowers individuals, especially Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs), to embrace radical personal responsibility. Discover how mental health can be transformed through the freedom of choice and the journey of creating your own meaning. Tune in to learn how to harness your inner strength, thrive, and supercharge your mental health
