On Ep 152 Giles joins you from LA in his intro this week to celebrate the US release of his long-awaited feature film THE DARE. Headlining today's episode, we chat with Aleem Hossain director of sci-fi feature After We Leave, winner of best feature film at sci-fi London 2019 and best director at Berlin Sci-Fi. Aleem gives Giles some insight into his process, in going low-budget, creating convincing VFX and eschewing a traditional production process to allow for more improvisation from his actors. On this episode 149 of The Filmmakers Podcast Giles Alderson ('The Dare') had a natter with director and stunt choreographer Nick Powell about working with Nicolas Cage and his latest film Primal (OUT NOW)We chat how Nick started out as an actor and was offered a role at The National Theatre but couldn’t afford it so started doing stunts through his love of martial arts and started to get films and TV work such as Batman and British TV and from there started to direct 2nd unit and forge a great career as a stunt choreographer on films such as Three Musketeers, X-Men Last Stand, Cinderella Man, 28 Days Later and Bourne Identity to name a few.Then after 8 or 9years he turned stunt directing work down in the hope his feature films would happen.We talk about why movies fall apart.
