Kyler Murray is the biggest winner of free agency in the NFL so far for obvious reasons. Not only does he get to rehab his image with Minnesota Vikings, but he also gets to do it while being paid tons of money by his former team, the Arizona Cardinals. It is a perfect halfway house for Murray at this time. Similarly, Justin Fields will be changing teams and going from one of the worst organizations, the New York Jets, to one of the best in the Kansas City Chiefs. This gives him a great chance to repair his image and grow as a player without much pressure. From a team perspective, the Los Angeles Rams CRUSHED free agency by getting a cornerback via trade and via a signing. Snagging Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson was brilliant for a team that needed real help at the spot. The New York Giants made no splashy signings, but were still able to add tremendous help around Jaxson Dart for year two. With the first week of NFL Free Agency in the books it is time to look back at the winners and losers, starting with the San Francisco 49ers who hit big with their signing of Mike Evans and their trade for Osa Odighizuwa. This sets them up to make a big push back to the top of the NFC. The Pittsburgh Steelers also did well to build up their roster even if they can't have championship aspirations in 2026. Big losers include the Jacksonville Jaguars who did not actively improve their roster while also losing some key talent, but they are joined by the Houston Texans in that category. The QB Carousel in the NFL is moving at a rapid pace and it seems like Kyler Murray to the Minnesota Vikings is the next big move. This move makes perfect sense for the Vikings and for Kyler as it represents a short-term boost and a potential long-term solution. Kirk Cousins to the Las Vegas Raiders makes less sense as both sides need something else than what is presented with this pairing. Malik Willis to the Miami Dolphins makes a ton of sense on the other hand because if it hits, Willis is the QB of the future and if it bombs, the Dolphins are set for a top pick, but there is a world when the Dolphins stay stuck in the middle. The New York Jets trading for Geno Smith was not wise, but considering their immense draft capital in 2027, it might be a spot where the Jets can't go wrong. Finally, Aaron Rodgers to the Pittsburgh Steelers is bound to happen again, but they would be wise to add a more realistic development option via trade.
