Finding the right property to turn into a HMO can be a huge amount of work. We have to think about the purchase price, the refurb cost, the builder, who’s managing the builder, finding and managing tenants, and doing all the paperwork. So the question is, should we just purchase a ready-made HMO? Whether we like it or not, at some point in time, as a HMO landlord, we are going to be the recipient of complaints. It could be from your tenant, your tenant’s parents, the council, the tradesmen, there’s a whole host of people who might be inclined to complain about our products or services to get incentivised.
