The Blue Castle by Lucy Maud Montgomery ~ Full Audiobook [romance]

The Blue Castle by Lucy Maud Montgomery audiobook. Genre: romanceIn a small Ontario town, 29-year-old Valancy Stirling lives under the thumb of her sharp-tongued mother and a clan of proper, disapproving relatives who have trained her to be quiet, grateful, and afraid. Her days are a procession of dull duties and stifled wishes, relieved only by her secret devotion to the vivid, escapist nature writings of John Foster and by an imagined refuge she calls the Blue Castle - a private dream of freedom and belonging. When Valancy receives unexpected news that shakes her sense of time and obligation, she makes a daring decision: to stop living for other people's approval and start living for herself. Her break from convention draws scandal, gossip, and a hard reckoning with everything her family values, but it also leads her toward friendship, work with real purpose, and an unlikely connection with Barney Snaith, a man the town distrusts and misunderstands. As Valancy steps into the wider world of Muskoka woods, lakes, and small communities, she must decide what courage looks like, what love might cost, and whether she can build a life that feels like her own. Warm, witty, and quietly rebellious, this story explores self-respect, second chances, and the joy of choosing your own path. For ad-free listening try our premium subscription Chapters (Approximate)(00:00:00) Chapter 01(00:23:02) Chapter 02(00:31:41) Chapter 03(00:43:09) Chapter 04(00:48:13) Chapter 05(00:57:03) Chapter 06(01:10:26) Chapter 07(01:22:12) Chapter 08(01:38:57) Chapter 09(01:46:51) Chapter 10(02:03:11) Chapter 11(02:27:33) Chapter 12(02:32:04) Chapter 13(02:38:10) Chapter 14(02:51:31) Chapter 15(02:57:06) Chapter 16(03:03:50) Chapter 17(03:12:19) Chapter 18(03:22:50) Chapter 19(03:34:15) Chapter 20(03:54:05) Chapter 21(04:09:35) Chapter 22(04:15:15) Chapter 23(04:22:56) Chapter 24(04:30:10) Chapter 25(04:39:54) Chapter 26(04:51:06) Chapter 27(05:12:23) Chapter 28(05:20:42) Chapter 29(05:30:04) Chapter 30(05:37:36) Chapter 31(05:52:06) Chapter 32(06:01:40) Chapter 33(06:07:10) Chapter 34(06:15:17) Chapter 35(06:24:34) Chapter 36(06:28:38) Chapter 37(06:36:29) Chapter 38(06:59:36) Chapter 39(07:07:32) Chapter 40(07:23:06) Chapter 41(07:28:41) Chapter 42(07:50:38) Chapter 43(07:53:53) Chapter 44(07:56:16) Chapter 45 Learn more about your ad choices. England and Yesterday by Louise Imogen Guiney ~ Full Audiobook [poetry]

England and Yesterday by Louise Imogen Guiney audiobook. Genre: poetryEngland and Yesterday is a compact, finely wrought poetry collection by American poet Louise Imogen Guiney, shaped by her deep love of English place, history, and literary tradition. The book opens with a London sequence of sonnets (written in 1889) that moves through iconic spaces and moods: Westminster Abbey and the Tower, city fog and river stairs, museum reading rooms and dockside labor, where splendor and hardship stand side by side. A second sonnet sequence turns to Oxford (written between 1890 and 1895), tracing tow-paths, college gardens, old dials, and church stones, as the speaker listens for the undertones of faith, scholarship, and time itself. Beyond these travel-grounded poems, Guiney broadens into lyrics and brief occasional pieces that invoke ballad and song, meditate on saints and poets, and linger over ruins, landscapes, and memorials. Throughout, the central tension is between the living present and the weight of what came before: how a city or a countryside can feel crowded with centuries, and how a modern observer can love a place without ignoring its sorrows. The result is a luminous portrait of England seen through memory, conscience, and music. For ad-free listening try our premium subscription Chapters (Approximate)(00:00:00) Chapter 01(00:01:07) Chapter 02(00:02:16) Chapter 03(00:03:32) Chapter 04(00:04:52) Chapter 05(00:06:03) Chapter 06(00:07:14) Chapter 07(00:08:24) Chapter 08(00:09:34) Chapter 09(00:10:45) Chapter 10(00:12:07) Chapter 11(00:13:19) Chapter 12(00:14:25) Chapter 13(00:15:38) Chapter 14(00:16:52) Chapter 15(00:18:11) Chapter 16(00:19:29) Chapter 17(00:20:46) Chapter 18(00:22:05) Chapter 19(00:23:36) Chapter 20(00:24:46) Chapter 21(00:25:54) Chapter 22(00:27:19) Chapter 23(00:28:27) Chapter 24(00:29:52) Chapter 25(00:32:28) Chapter 26(00:36:18) Chapter 27(00:37:28) Chapter 28(00:38:41) Chapter 29(00:39:45) Chapter 30(00:41:01) Chapter 31(00:42:33) Chapter 32(00:43:54) Chapter 33(00:45:16) Chapter 34(00:47:13) Chapter 35(00:48:43) Chapter 36(00:49:38) Chapter 37(00:50:32) Chapter 38(00:51:41) Chapter 39(00:52:53) Chapter 40(00:53:43) Chapter 41(00:55:24) Chapter 42(00:57:07) Chapter 43(00:59:20) Chapter 44(01:00:35) Chapter 45(01:02:21) Chapter 46(01:04:09) Chapter 47(01:06:23) Chapter 48(01:07:18) Chapter 49(01:08:04) Chapter 50(01:09:19) Chapter 51(01:10:07) Chapter 52(01:11:07) Chapter 53 Learn more about your ad choices. The Mind The Paint Girl by Louis Tracy ~ Full Audiobook [comedy]

The Mind The Paint Girl by Louis Tracy audiobook. Genre: comedyIn The 'Mind the Paint' Girl, Louis Tracy adapts Sir Arthur Wing Pinero's hit stage comedy into a glittering, behind-the-curtain tale of sudden fame and the price it demands. When Lily Upjohn escapes the London slums and lands a hard-won place in the chorus at the Pandora Theatre, she expects long rehearsals, small pay, and smaller respect. One mishap during practice - a splash of paint from a scene painter's scaffold - sparks a moment the show's composer turns into a catchy number, and Lily becomes the unexpected voice of a song that London cannot stop humming. Overnight, she is promoted from anonymous chorus girl to celebrated star, and the theater world that once ignored her now feeds on her every gesture. With success come dangerous admirers and conflicting promises: earnest Nicholas Jeyes offers devotion at any cost, while the polished Lord Francombe dangles wealth, status, and a place in society that Lily has only ever watched from afar. As managers, friends, and rivals pull at her loyalties, Lily must decide what she truly wants - and how much of herself she is willing to trade for applause. For ad-free listening try our premium subscription Chapters (Approximate)(00:00:00) Chapter 01(00:24:47) Chapter 02(00:49:59) Chapter 03(01:15:44) Chapter 04(01:40:38) Chapter 05(02:04:14) Chapter 06(02:35:41) Chapter 07(02:58:06) Chapter 08(03:27:40) Chapter 09(04:00:32) Chapter 10(04:25:12) Chapter 11(04:48:18) Chapter 12(05:12:27) Chapter 13(05:39:52) Chapter 14(06:08:51) Chapter 15(06:34:07) Chapter 16 Learn more about your ad choices. The Bartlett Mystery by Louis Tracy ~ Full Audiobook [mystery]

The Bartlett Mystery by Louis Tracy audiobook. Genre: mysteryThis is a fast-paced mystery, set in New York City, has two or three really interesting ('round') characters, a solid plot, no cheap plot-twists, two full-fledged sub/urban battles and some real surprises.Winifred Bartlett, a beautiful and poor orphan, suddenly finds herself homeless and out of a job. Prince Charming (nee Rex Carshaw) comes on to her by accident and begins to take an interest. As strange, apparently unconnected disasters continue to batter poor Winnie, Rex and two police detectives (the most interesting characters in the book) probe the causes and forces threatening the dear girl's well-being and, ultimately, her very life and liberty. It turns out that it is Winifred's close resemblance to her mother, who died long ago in Vermont, that threatens certain powerful interests in contemporary (1913) New York.An unusually large cast of bad guys - each with a different motive for getting rid of Winifred - includes a US Senator, and unsuccessful book binding supervisor, an influential NY society belle, and gun-slinging Western gangster 'Mick the Wolf.” The mystery becomes increasingly complex with every new assault on the girl's well-being, and the efforts of the NY police and the ever-faithful Rex.For ad-free listening try our premium subscription Chapters (Approximate)(00:00:00) Chapter 01(00:16:07) Chapter 02(00:33:15) Chapter 03(00:54:35) Chapter 04(01:15:40) Chapter 05(01:35:58) Chapter 06(01:58:30) Chapter 07(02:15:35) Chapter 08(02:32:12) Chapter 09(02:53:13) Chapter 10(03:13:51) Chapter 11(03:32:03) Chapter 12(03:48:40) Chapter 13(04:07:43) Chapter 14(04:23:42) Chapter 15(04:36:12) Chapter 16(04:51:56) Chapter 17(05:08:41) Chapter 18(05:28:56) Chapter 19(05:46:34) Chapter 20(06:03:03) Chapter 21(06:18:32) Chapter 22(06:36:19) Chapter 23(06:55:57) Chapter 24(07:12:47) Chapter 25(07:33:41) Chapter 26(07:50:57) Chapter 27 Learn more about your ad choices. A Dreamer's Tales by Lord Dunsany ~ Full Audiobook [fantasy]

A Dreamer's Tales by Lord Dunsany audiobook. Genre: fantasyA Dreamer's Tales by Lord Dunsany is a spellbinding collection of short fantasies that reads like a cabinet of midnight wonders, each story opening onto a world ruled less by logic than by longing, omen, and dream. In these jewel-like tales, Dunsany guides you through misty cities and far kingdoms where prophets bargain with fate, sailors pursue impossible horizons, and proud gods watch mortals with amused indifference. Some stories unfold as fables with a sting in the tail, others as lyrical travelogues to places that feel remembered rather than discovered, but all share an uncanny sense that the border between waking life and myth is thin as paper. Voices shift from wry and mischievous to solemn and incantatory, and familiar human desires - glory, love, revenge, escape - are refracted through strange laws and stranger landscapes. Whether you are drawn to timeless parable or pure imaginative atmosphere, this book offers a series of brief, haunting journeys that invite you to surrender to wonder, and to question what a dream can demand from the one who dares to follow it.For ad-free listening try our premium subscription Chapters (Approximate)(00:00:00) Chapter 01(00:27:10) Chapter 02(00:38:28) Chapter 03(00:48:21) Chapter 04(01:00:36) Chapter 05(01:10:42) Chapter 06(01:50:28) Chapter 07(02:04:34) Chapter 08(02:18:03) Chapter 09(02:30:49) Chapter 10(02:43:40) Chapter 11(02:51:11) Chapter 12(03:22:22) Chapter 13(03:30:48) Chapter 14(03:39:02) Chapter 15(03:46:06) Chapter 16 Learn more about your ad choices. The Loss of the S.S. Titanic by Lawrence Beesley ~ Full Audiobook [history]

The Loss of the S.S. Titanic by Lawrence Beesley audiobook. Genre: historyWritten by Titanic survivor Lawrence Beesley and published soon after the disaster, The Loss of the S.S. Titanic is a clear-eyed, intimate account of the ship's final voyage and the human choices that unfolded alongside it. Beesley, a quiet, observant passenger traveling in second class, reconstructs the days at sea with a scientist's attention to detail and a witness's humility: the routines of life aboard an enormous new liner, the subtle shift from comfort to uncertainty, and the sudden transformation of a modern marvel into a scene of urgent improvisation. As the night of the collision arrives, he focuses less on sensationalism and more on what he actually saw and heard - crew procedures, passenger reactions across different classes, the atmosphere on deck, and the difficult problem of decision-making when information is scarce and minutes matter. Beyond the narrative, Beesley examines broader questions of technology, safety assumptions, and institutional readiness, offering measured reflections on how such a catastrophe could occur. The result is both a gripping firsthand chronicle and a thoughtful early investigation into one of the twentieth century's defining maritime tragedies. For ad-free listening try our premium subscription Chapters (Approximate)(00:00:00) Chapter 01(00:17:56) Chapter 02(00:57:27) Chapter 03(01:38:10) Chapter 04(02:17:24) Chapter 05(02:38:11) Chapter 06(03:32:31) Chapter 07(04:07:55) Chapter 08(04:31:56) Chapter 09(05:04:01) Chapter 10 Learn more about your ad choices. The Bobbsey Twins on Blueberry Island by Laura Lee Hope ~ Full Audiobook [adventure]

The Bobbsey Twins on Blueberry Island by Laura Lee Hope audiobook. Genre: adventureThe Bobbsey twins are off to spend a summer full of fun and adventures on Blueberry Island. They will encounter a cave, and gypsies, and other things I won't tell you about. You can find out by listening to this book!As with many children's books written during this time in history, there are racial stereotypes that would not pass muster today. To edit them out would be to erase history, so I'm reading the book, as is. There is a 'fat black mammy' named Dinah, and gypsies (of undetermined geographical origin) who naturally steal because they don't know any better. These stereotypes can act as a good springboard for educating your child on how far we have come, and how far we still need to go, to erase racism altogether. For ad-free listening try our premium subscription Chapters (Approximate)(00:00:00) Chapter 01(00:13:15) Chapter 02(00:27:43) Chapter 03(00:37:57) Chapter 04(00:49:41) Chapter 05(01:03:05) Chapter 06(01:12:31) Chapter 07(01:22:49) Chapter 08(01:36:07) Chapter 09(01:50:34) Chapter 10(02:00:12) Chapter 11(02:15:35) Chapter 12(02:27:57) Chapter 13(02:38:09) Chapter 14(02:53:14) Chapter 15(03:02:57) Chapter 16(03:12:47) Chapter 17(03:24:49) Chapter 18(03:35:58) Chapter 19(03:47:01) Chapter 20(03:55:31) Chapter 21(04:05:40) Chapter 22 Learn more about your ad choices.
