Relativity - The Special and General Theory by Albert Einstein ~ Full Audiobook [science]

Relativity - The Special and General Theory by Albert Einstein audiobook. Genre: scienceThis is an introduction to Einstein’s space-bending, time-stretching theory of Relativity, written by the master himself. Special and General relativity explain the structure of space time and provide a theory of gravitation, respectively. Einstein’s theories shocked the world with their counterintuitive results, including the dissolution of absolute time. In this book he brings a simplified form of his profound understanding of the subject to the layperson. In the words of Einstein: “The present book is intended, as far as possible, to give an exact insight into the theory of Relativity to those readers who, from a general scientific and philosophical point of view, are interested in the theory, but who are not conversant with the mathematical apparatus of theoretical physics.” The book is challenging at times but, when approached patiently, proves itself one of the most lucid explanations of Relativity to be found anywhere. [Due to transcription or optical character recognition errors in creating online texts, and because of less-than-clear fonts in some printed texts, the variables as read in some of the equations here are not as Einstein intended. For example, the numeral ‘one’ has frequently been printed and read as the letter ‘I.’ In addition, some equations do not translate well into the spoken word. If you require completely accurate renditions of Einstein’s mathematical formulas, we suggest that you consult a published text.]For ad-free listening try our premium subscription Chapters (Approximate)(00:00:00) Chapter 00(00:02:11) Chapter 1(00:17:08) Chapter 2(00:27:48) Chapter 3(00:48:24) Chapter 4(01:05:37) Chapter 5(01:24:51) Chapter 6(01:39:15) Chapter 7(01:58:56) Chapter 8(02:19:54) Chapter 9(02:38:07) Chapter 10(02:59:40) Chapter 11(03:19:09) Chapter 33 Learn more about your ad choices. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain ~ Full Audiobook [adventure]

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain audiobook. Genre: adventureThe Adventures of Tom Sawyer (published 1876) is a very well-known and popular story concerning American youth. Mark Twain's lively tale of the scrapes and adventures of boyhood is set in St. Petersburg, Missouri, where Tom Sawyer and his friend Huckleberry Finn have the kinds of adventures many boys can imagine: racing bugs during class, impressing girls, especially Becky Thatcher, with fights and stunts in the schoolyard, getting lost in a cave, and playing pirates on the Mississippi River. One of the most famous incidents in the book describes how Tom persuades his friends to do a boring, hateful chore for him: whitewashing (i.e., painting) a fence. For ad-free listening try our premium subscription Chapters (Approximate)(00:00:00) Chapter 1(00:26:39) Chapter 2(00:59:37) Chapter 3(01:31:29) Chapter 4(01:52:50) Chapter 5(02:16:26) Chapter 6(02:35:27) Chapter 7(03:10:52) Chapter 8(03:35:48) Chapter 9(04:04:44) Chapter 10(04:36:21) Chapter 11(04:50:58) Chapter 26(05:06:07) Chapter 12(05:17:34) Chapter 29(05:32:21) Chapter 30(05:49:20) Chapter 13(06:12:34) Chapter 14 Learn more about your ad choices. The Prince by Machiavelli ~ Full Audiobook [philosophy]

The Prince by Machiavelli audiobook. Genre: philosophyWritten in the turbulent politics of Renaissance Italy, Niccolo Machiavelli's The Prince is a compact, provocative guide to acquiring and holding power. Addressed to a ruling patron, the book examines how leaders rise, how states are secured, and why authority so often slips away. Machiavelli moves from clear-eyed observations about human behavior to blunt advice on strategy: the uses of fear and love, the management of allies and enemies, the risks of relying on fortune, and the practical challenges of governing new territories versus inherited realms. Along the way, he contrasts different kinds of rulers - those lifted by luck, those who build power through skill, those backed by armies or by public favor - and asks what separates a lasting regime from a fragile one. More than a manual for tyrants, The Prince is a study of political realism: it forces listeners to confront the gap between how people wish leaders would act and how power works when survival is at stake. Whether approached as history, ethics, or strategy, it remains a sharp, unsettling classic. For ad-free listening try our premium subscription Chapters (Approximate)(00:00:00) Chapter 1(00:18:33) Chapter 2(00:30:56) Chapter 3(00:34:27) Chapter 01(00:57:38) Chapter 02(01:16:44) Chapter 03(01:47:34) Chapter 04(02:08:56) Chapter 05(02:33:08) Chapter 06(02:49:54) Chapter 07(03:06:19) Chapter 08(03:33:29) Chapter 09(03:57:19) Chapter 10(04:28:46) Chapter 11(04:44:50) Chapter 4(05:13:30) Chapter 5 Learn more about your ad choices. The Hunting of the Snark by Lewis Carroll ~ Full Audiobook [poetry]

The Hunting of the Snark by Lewis Carroll audiobook. Genre: poetryLewis Carroll's The Hunting of the Snark is a fast-moving, gleefully illogical narrative poem that follows an unlikely crew setting out to sea in search of a creature no one can properly define. Commanded by the resolute Bellman, the expedition gathers a catalogue of eccentric characters - including a Beaver, a Baker, and a Barrister - each armed with the wrong tools, the wrong expertise, and complete confidence. Their journey unfolds through absurd rules of navigation, baffling conversations, and comically solemn lectures on what to fear, what to pack, and what not to ask. As the crew closes in on the elusive Snark, the story tightens into a blend of playful nonsense and creeping unease, raising questions about obsession, certainty, and the human need to impose meaning on the unknowable. Musical in its rhythms and packed with memorable lines, Carroll's masterpiece rewards both first-time listeners and returning fans, offering a surreal voyage where language itself becomes the landscape - and where the hunt matters as much as whatever might be found. For ad-free listening try our premium subscription Chapters (Approximate)(00:00:00) Chapter 1 Learn more about your ad choices. Sylvie and Bruno by Lewis Carroll ~ Full Audiobook [fantasy]

Sylvie and Bruno by Lewis Carroll audiobook. Genre: fantasyIn Sylvie and Bruno, Lewis Carroll steps beyond Wonderland into a stranger, more intricate dream: a Victorian narrator who drifts between everyday England and a shimmering Fairyland, sometimes in the space of a single conversation. In the enchanted realm, the gentle child Sylvie and her irrepressible companion Bruno discover that their country is in peril - not from dragons, but from the small, sharp evils of vanity, bureaucracy, and ambition. As rumors and rivalries gather around the throne, the two friends are drawn into a struggle that tests courage, kindness, and what it really means to do the right thing when rules and justice no longer align. Meanwhile, in the narrator's waking life, polite society and modern ideas collide in drawing rooms and on country walks: questions of faith, science, charity, and love are argued with wit and wonder. Blending fairy tale adventure, social satire, and Carroll's taste for paradox and playful logic, this book invites you to listen for the thin seam where imagination and reality meet - and to decide which world is the truer one.For ad-free listening try our premium subscription Chapters (Approximate)(00:00:00) Chapter 00(00:22:45) Chapter 01(00:40:26) Chapter 02(00:55:59) Chapter 03(01:12:28) Chapter 04(01:27:10) Chapter 05(01:46:09) Chapter 06(02:01:24) Chapter 07(02:14:41) Chapter 08(02:27:46) Chapter 09(02:43:58) Chapter 10(02:58:32) Chapter 11(03:08:51) Chapter 12(03:24:30) Chapter 13(03:42:27) Chapter 14(04:06:30) Chapter 15(04:23:20) Chapter 16(04:37:09) Chapter 17(04:58:57) Chapter 18(05:17:29) Chapter 19(05:35:12) Chapter 20(05:53:51) Chapter 21(06:17:08) Chapter 22(06:41:16) Chapter 23(07:00:41) Chapter 24(07:25:45) Chapter 25 Learn more about your ad choices.
