Being calm and assertive is ok and appropriate at times, however, being animated, girly baby voice is also very handy in other parts of your training. Have fun with your dog and don't let your ego get bruised, if you need to motivate your dog by being animated, let it go and give it a go. You are the shepherd, not the engineer of your dog's behaviour. Any individual is a mosaic of their extended family. Panos & Luke discuss the roles genetics and environment (innate and learnt behaviour) play in what creates a behaviour, temperament and mindset. Environment brings forth genetic expression and it's potential, this relates to type/level of drive, temperament, health, social behaviours, anxiety and aggression to name a few.
