Raising Teenagers in a world of Pornography, Drugs & Pre-Marital Sex
Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi lays stress on the topic of parenting children in today’s times and also shares his experiences of Muslim kids involved in drugs, pornography and pre-marital sex.
We often naively neglect the environment around us in which our child is being raised. But with all the exposure to indecency, it is no longer time to be politically correct and hide in our conservative Muslim shells and be self-destructively naive that "It won't happen to my son and daughter!"
If we treat our children with the maturity, intelligence and respect they deserve and hand out responsibility to them, we have far better chance of raising individuals who can lead much better lives making conscious decisions and staying away from the filth of the society.
Dua to Allah to instil Iman in our children.
The number one source of education for our children is us parents. If we do not set the bar for our children, we will be the one who will have to bear the ill-consequences.

The Humility of Knowledge Vs. The Arrogance of Ignorance
Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi implores upon us to break free from the bounds and territories of ignorance, arrogance and divisions while enamouring the humility of knowledge through tolerance and acceptance.
Acquiring knowledge should never imply that one would begin to despise, curse, and belittle our fellow Muslims. Rather it would only cement the fact that we have indeed very little knowledge as it is evident that one would not exhibit fanaticism if he had been blessed with beneficial knowledge.
The more one acquaints himself with sound knowledge, the more humble and tolerant of other people and opinions one becomes. As a corollary of this, the more ignorant and arrogant a person is, intolerance and divisiveness are his marked characteristics.
Our Shariah is ample proof for proving the humility of knowledge. When the Qur'an and Sunnah was sent down in the midst of a group of ignorant and arrogant people, it moulded them into a generation of humble worshippers that tolerated differences and respected their fellow compatriots as opposed to being ignorant and arrogant.
Listen intently in order that we may also imbibe and inculcate the positive traits of our forefathers.

Solar And Lunar Eclipses - An Islamic Perspective
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi delves into the topic of eclipses and acquaints us with the factors that come into place when an eclipse takes place. What is the Islamic position on the solar and lunar eclipses and the Qusoof and Khusoof prayers prayed at the time of the occurrence of an eclipse?
History of Islam considers the death of the beloved son of the Prophet ﷺ as one of the most tragic incidents to have transpired in the life time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
What seemed even miraculous on that fateful day was the eclipse of the sun which people attributed to the death of the Prophet's ﷺ son. When the Prophet ﷺ heard of these rumours, he said: "The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of the death or life of someone, but they are two signs amongst the Signs of Allah. So, if you see them, offer the Prayer (of eclipse in praise of Allah)".
Eclipsing is a supremely profound and awe inspiring celestial happening and it goes on to certify the Signs of Allah's Might and Power.

Ramadan 2015 - Day 20
Shaykh Dr Yasir Qadhi discusses the idea of one Ummah devoid of racism and bigotry referencing to Surat Al-Hujurat.
In the past, the colour of the skin and tribal lineage were mandatory markers to decide one’s status in the society.
The Prophet ﷺ eradicated racism and bigotry and said in his final Khutbah -"There is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab, nor of a non-Arab over an Arab, nor of a white over a black, nor a black over a white, except by taqwa (piety and god consciousness)."
Hence, it is binding upon us to inculcate and imbibe these imminent set of values within ourselves and tackle the predicaments of the society full throttle so that we live in a better place and the future of the Muslim Ummah is also shining bright.

Ramadan 2015 - Day 19
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi explains explicitly about the Day of Judgment in light of Surat Ad-Dukhan and Surat Al-Jathiyah.
Belief in Yawm al Qiyamah is the most talked about in the Qur'an after Tawheed. 40 names are mentioned in the Qur'an for Yawm Al Qiyamah. There are scientific, ethical, philosophical biological and rational concepts of the Day of Judgement.
Of a few descriptions of Yawm al Qiyamah is that people’s hearts will be in their throats meaning that they will be terrified beyond measure. young men will turn into old men.People will be assumed to be in a drunken state but they will not be actually drunken rather they are in a state of daze. On that day, the righteous will be saved and will pass through this day in a duration which is that between Asr and Maghrib. But those who had rejected Islam will have the day equal to 50000 years.

Ramadan 2015 - Day 17
Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi gives a lecture on some verses of Surah az-Zumar and acquaints us with the blessings of Islam.
"So is one whose breast Allah has expanded to [accept] Islam and he is upon a light from his Lord [like one whose heart rejects it]? Then woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allah. Those are in manifest error.” Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah. That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah leaves astray - for him there is no guide."
[Surat Az-Zumar, verses 22 & 23]
"Allah takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that do not die [He takes] during their sleep. Then He keeps those for which He has decreed death and releases the others for a specified term. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought."
[Surat Az-Zumar, verse 42]
"O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah . Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful. And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped."
[Surat Az-Zumar, verses 53 & 54]
This verse is the most hopeful and optimistic verses in the entire Qur'an.
From the above verses, we can learn many aspects of our life:
Some of us have no love for Islam as our hearts have been hardened by the worldly pleasures and true Iman evades us.
The greatness of the Qur'an is explained in vivid detail.
The hearts of the believer tremble when they hear the Qur'an sometimes and sometimes as you read it , the heart finds comfort and peace.
We are made to be optimistic of the Mercy of Allah as He forgives all our sins. This can be achieved by turning in repentance towards Allah.

Ramadan 2015 - Day 16
Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi discusses the following points in this lecture:
The translation and explanation of the most common duas recited during Taraweeh and Witr prayers is explained clearly.
Sahaba performed Qunut inside of Witr Salah.
Muslim scholars have put together duas from Quran, hadith and their own understanding.
Ibn Umar RA said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ rarely left a gathering making this supplication: “O Allah, give us a share of fear of You that will prevent us from disobeying You, of obedience to You that will help us to reach Paradise, and of certainty that will enable us to withstand the calamities of this world; cause us to enjoy our hearing, sight and strength so long as we are alive, until we die; avenge us against those who wrong us; support us against those who wrong us; do not make our calamity in our religious commitment; do not make this world our main concern and all that we know about; do not send against us those who will show no mercy to us.”
Aameen!
