Email us: Will@faithfulpoliticspodcast.com*Apologies for the sound - we apparently were recording this episode underwater*On this episode of Faithful Politics, Josh and Will discuss the new scandal that is rocking the Trump administration, Goya-gate. They then talk about the push by the White House to have families send their kids back to school irregardless (this is totally a word now, look it up) of any concrete plan by the education secretary Betsy Devos. Lastly, they finally talk about the constitutionality of mask wearing, and Will gets to use that big brain of his and discuss what a filtering face piece is! lol. It's a great episode and one you won't want to miss! Sources used in the episode:https://www.acslaw.org/expertforum/face-covering-requirements-and-the-constitution/History of anti maskershttps://www.history.com/news/1918-spanish-flu-mask-wearing-resistanceCDChttps://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/Schools-Decision-Tree.pdf"Despite lower risk of serious illness, children with COVID-19-like symptoms should avoid contact with older adults and people of any age who may be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19" https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/guidance-for-schools.htmlSupport the show🎧 Want to learn more about Faithful Politics, get in touch with the hosts, or suggest a future guest?👉 Visit our website: faithfulpoliticspodcast.com📚 Check out our Bookstore – Featuring titles from our amazing guests:faithfulpoliticspodcast.com/bookstore❤️ Support the show – Help us keep the conversation going:https://www.patreon.com/cw/FaithfulPolitics📩 Reach out to us:Faithful Host, Josh Burtram: Josh@faithfulpolitics.comPolitical Host, Will Wright: Will@faithfulpolitics.com📱 Follow & connect with us:Twitter/X: @FaithfulPolitikInstagram: faithful_politicsFacebook: FaithfulPoliticsPodcastLinkedIn: faithfulpolitics📰 Subscribe to our Substack for behind-the-scenes content:faithfulpolitics.substack.com

Episode 10 - Say it with Pride!

Have a comment? Send us a text! (We read all of them but can't reply). Email us: Will@faithfulpoliticspodcast.comThis is the first of several podcasts we plan on doing that touches on LGBTQ+ issues. We get to hear from Pastor Josh's Mother-in-Law, who shares her son's coming out story and get her unique perspective on how it affected her views of LGBTQ+ and the congregants of the church her husband pastors. Also Pastor Josh and Will lay our cards out on the table and provide the listeners where they stand on the subject. Lastly we touch on church's "come as you are" mantra and get some advice from Kelly to parents of children who are struggling to be their true selves. It's an emotional but very different Christian perspective on an issue, that is extremely complicated, but easily understood through the lens of love. As always, please visit our website: www.faithfulpoliticspodcast.com to get more info about the show, the host, and read some blogs! Support the show🎧 Want to learn more about Faithful Politics, get in touch with the hosts, or suggest a future guest?👉 Visit our website: faithfulpoliticspodcast.com📚 Check out our Bookstore – Featuring titles from our amazing guests:faithfulpoliticspodcast.com/bookstore❤️ Support the show – Help us keep the conversation going:https://www.patreon.com/cw/FaithfulPolitics📩 Reach out to us:Faithful Host, Josh Burtram: Josh@faithfulpolitics.comPolitical Host, Will Wright: Will@faithfulpolitics.com📱 Follow & connect with us:Twitter/X: @FaithfulPolitikInstagram: faithful_politicsFacebook: FaithfulPoliticsPodcastLinkedIn: faithfulpolitics📰 Subscribe to our Substack for behind-the-scenes content:faithfulpolitics.substack.com

Have a comment? Send us a text! (We read all of them but can't reply). Email us: Will@faithfulpoliticspodcast.comAt the core of the Faithful Politics Podcast, we want to find areas and subjects that we think are interesting and apply to both faith and politics, and we hope the content we've put out has been enjoyable and entertaining to you. But occasionally, there are topics that are better left as a standalone, and as a result, we will occasionally publish shorter Breakout session pods that dig deeper into specific areas of interest to us. We'll title each one with either Faith Pod or Politics Pod so you can easily discern its value and whether it's important to you. Thanks again for your continued support and I hope you enjoy our first of hopefully many, Faithful Politics Breakout sessions. Sources used:AG Seeks resignation from Prosecutors https://www.nytimes.com/1993/03/24/us/attorney-general-seeks-resignations-from-prosecutors.htmlActing New York US Attorney once defeated Roy Cohn https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/acting-new-york-us-attorney-once-defeated-roy-cohn-investigated-iran-contra/2020/06/20/82378274-b332-11ea-8758-bfd1d045525a_story.htmlDonation record https://www.opensecrets.org/donor-lookup/results?name=Geoffrey+Berman&page=2Judged confirmed: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/25/nyregion/geoffrey-berman-us-attorney-manhattan.htmlCNN, Barr spearheaded: https://www.cnn.com/2020/02/15/politics/william-barr-roger-stone-prosecutors-outrage/index.htmlSupport the show🎧 Want to learn more about Faithful Politics, get in touch with the hosts, or suggest a future guest?👉 Visit our website: faithfulpoliticspodcast.com📚 Check out our Bookstore – Featuring titles from our amazing guests:faithfulpoliticspodcast.com/bookstore❤️ Support the show – Help us keep the conversation going:https://www.patreon.com/cw/FaithfulPolitics📩 Reach out to us:Faithful Host, Josh Burtram: Josh@faithfulpolitics.comPolitical Host, Will Wright: Will@faithfulpolitics.com📱 Follow & connect with us:Twitter/X: @FaithfulPolitikInstagram: faithful_politicsFacebook: FaithfulPoliticsPodcastLinkedIn: faithfulpolitics📰 Subscribe to our Substack for behind-the-scenes content:faithfulpolitics.substack.com

Have a comment? Send us a text! (We read all of them but can't reply). Email us: Will@faithfulpoliticspodcast.com**note** had a little sound issue in the first 30 - 45 seconds. This episode of Faithful Politics we are doing a real life show, socially distanced of course, with a friend of the show Phil McKinney. On the show we talk about the call to defund the police, and how conceptually it seems like a good idea, but the messaging and slogan might be a barrier. Pastor Josh also digs a little deeper into how the church can be a force for good during these dark times. Phil offers some fresh perspective to old ideas, and keeps the conversation humorous and light with his quips and hot takes! Sources referenced on the podcast:Black Lives Matter: https://blacklivesmatter.comJames Forman, Jr.: https://www.jamesformanjr.comCompeting bills in Congress: https://www.politico.com/newsletters/huddle/2020/06/12/congresss-competing-police-reform-bills-489510H.R.35 - Emmett Till Antilynching Act - https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/35/textFor more information about the podcasts or our hosts, please visit our website @ www.FaithfulPoliticsPodcast.com.
