In our second SXSW themed podcast, Ronan talks to Helix Works co-founders Nimesh Chandra and Sachin Chalapati just before they headed off to SXSW to pitch at it. Helix Works is in the IndieBio EU program run by SOS Ventures and they focus on DNA data storage as they are a DNA factory that synthesises DNA. Nimesh and Sachin talk about the help they got from Enterprise Ireland and the local enterprise office in Cork and IndieBio program they are involved. Nimesh and Sachin also talk about how they ended up going to SXSW and what the future holds for Helix Works including being able to store a terabyte on a USB stick.

Girl Crew the Irish Tech startup founded by Elva Carri, Aine Mulloy and Pamela Newenham are off to SXSW and before they headed off Ronan met up with Aine and Pamela. They tell Ronan how Girl Crew started including how they joined forces at surf summit, that their membership is growing, and their Tinder prank which got picked up on Reddit. They also tell me that while they are at SXSW they will be crowning the Queen of Tech and doing a soft launch of their web app.

Denis Kennelly, the VP Development & Technology, IBM Security Systems is one of the speakers at the Zero Day Security conference in Dublin. Denis talks to Ronan about his talk Cognitive Security: A new approach to Cyber Defence and where he sees Watson heading.

Mike Hanrahan from jet.com talks to Ronan about how Jet started, what they do in e-commerce, how Walmart bought them over, and the Innovative tech they use such as AI and VR. Mike also explains why their focus is on America, why they love hackathons, how seriously they take security, and that they are looking to hire more people for their Dublin office.

Eimear O’Carroll the ‎CTO & Co-founder of Restored Hearing, talks to Ronan about how their company grew out of a Young Scientist project, how tinnitus is a big issue with 10% of the population suffering from it, their sound relief product, their new sound bounce headsets and how they work. Eimear also mentions that their industrial client base is in Europe and America, their future plans including the markets they are aiming for, their successful kickstarter campaign, and their future investment plans.

Dr Noel Carroll Research Fellow at Lero, talks to Ronan about his role at Lero, what Lero does, how Lero started and some of the well known companies that they deal with. Dr Carroll also talks about Kelmac and the recent R&D programme Lero is doing with Kelmac.
