InPresence 0123: Revisiting The Bible
InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.
Here he begins with a discussion of memory loss; then he pivots to the main topic, the Bible. He points to the work of Julius Wellhausen, in the early twentieth century, inaugurating a new era of biblical criticism by identifying different authors of the five books of Moses. He points to the lack of evidence, in ancient Egyptian records, of any references to the events portrayed in the Book of Exodus. He notes that excavations of the City of Jericho have found the the ancient walls decayed slowly over time, and did not collapse suddenly as is portrayed in the Joshua. He also highlights the work of Yuval Noah Harari and his emphasis of the human capacity for creating fictional stories.

InPresence 0122: Mexico’s Spiritist Medium President
InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.
Here he notes that this video monologue is being released on the day when the news will be reporting on the important Mexican election. He refers to his three earlier interviews with C. M. Mayo, author of Metaphysical Odyssey Into the Mexican Revolution: Francisco I. Madero and his Secret Book Spiritist Manual. These interviews describe how the father of Mexico’s 1910 revolution regarded himself to be a spiritist medium. Jeff then raises a series of questions regarding the value of spiritual approaches to politics.

InPresence 0121: Being Here and Now
InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man.
Here he references the very name of this monologue series, InPresence, as having originally been a discussion group for professionals in the field of intuition. Being present in the moment is a path that leads to cultivation of intuitive and psychic capacities. He discusses the meaning of the phrase, Be Here Now, using the example of walking into a room and forgetting why you came there. He also describes his experience of being present while conducting video conversations.

Anti-Mysticism with James Tunney
James Tunney, LLM, is an Irish Barrister who has lectured on legal matters throughout the world. He is a poet, a visual artist, and also author of The Mystical Accord: Sutras to Suit Our Times, Lines for Spiritual Evolution. In addition, he has written two dystopian novels — Blue Lies September, and Ireland I Don’t Recognize Who She Is. His website is http://www.jamestunney.com.
Here he discusses various elements of society that are antagonistic to mysticism. He notes that the objectivist philosophy of Ayn Rand, while antagonistic to religion, and therefore mysticism, ought not to be — since it emphasizes individual freedom. However, objectivism has strong rationalistic and scientistic elements that tend to view mysticism as a dangerous superstition. Similarly, psychiatry also tends to confuse mysticism with psychopathology.

InPresence 0120: Letting Go of Guilt
InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.
Here he revisits the recent video conversation with Jason Reza Jorjani about Franz Kafka’s novel, The Trial. He points to one interpretation suggested by Jorjani: that we are all guilty of being at odds with ourself to a greater or lesser degree. No one is so well-integrated as to be free of self-contradictory behaviors. In fact, there are many other things for which we might well feel guilty. Jeff suggests that we can address this situation by letting go of all guilt. He points out that, in so doing, we must seek to become more responsible for our own actions.

InPresence 0119: Letting Go of Certain Beliefs
InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.
Here he notes that, in many academic circles, the idea of forming religious (or other) beliefs — in the absence of evidence — is considered a grave intellectual sin. William James challenged this position in his essay, “The Will To Believe”. Simultaneously, James also challenged Blaise Pascal’s famous argument (Pascal’s Wager) in favor of religious belief. Parapsychologists typically eschew belief, in favor of hypothesis testing. However, they also acknowledge that those who believe they can experience ESP perform better in laboratory tests.

InPresence 0118: The Power of Positive Thinking
InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.
Here he notes that the best-selling book, The Power of Positive Thinking, was written by Rev. Norman Vincent Peale, pastor of the Marble Collegiate Church in New York City. This is the church that Donald Trump attended as a child and the one to which he claimed to be a member. One can see both the negative and positive aspect of Peale’s philosophy reflected in the Donald Trump narrative. Jeff then goes on to highlight the thinking of psychiatrist, Jule Eisenbud, who warns that individuals with self-destructive psychic complexes can harm themselves when engaging in parapsychological activity.

InPresence 0117: Transcendentalism and New Thought
InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.
Here he explains the connections between the New Thought movement and the American Transcendentalist movement. Both were important in the life of America’s great psychologist and philosopher, William James. He also indicates that, due to summer travel and other responsibilities, the release of New Thinking Allowed video conversations as well as InPresence monologues will be somewhat erratic for about six weeks.

InPresence 0116: Humanistic and Transpersonal Psychology
InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.
Here he reviews the history of the humanistic and transpersonal movements in psychology. He notes that there is a marked difference between the Association for Humanistic Psychology and the American Humanist Association, the organization that gave birth to the association of “scoffers” known as the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of the Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP). He also highlights the conflict between the transpersonal movement and the thinking of the great existential psychologist, Rollo May.

Nancy du Tertre, JD, is a corporate lawyer specializing in securities litigation. She is also a psychic detective, spiritual medium, medical intuitive, and remote viewer. She is author of Psychic Intuition: Everything You Wanted to Ask But Were Afraid to Know. She has also written How to Talk to an Alien. In addition she is certified in the Intuitive Gestalt Dialogue Method. Her website is https://www.theskepticalpsychic.com/.
Here she describes how, while attending a psychokinetic training program in Russia, she developed a severe injury to her spine. Upon returning to the United States, immediate surgery was recommended. Nevertheless she attempted, with little success, to treat her condition using holistic methods. In February 2020 she experienced an unusual “more than lucid” dream. Within days, the excruciating pain and disability she had been experiencing for nearly half a year vanished and has not returned since.
