In particular he describes his relationship with Wallace Black Elk and also Godfrey Chipps. He speculates that he may have been a Lakota shaman named Hollow Horn in a previous lifetime. He recounts many eyewitness stories regarding medicine powers — including apports, reanimating lifeless animals, affecting the weather, and shape-shifting. He discusses these abilities in the context of the worldview and the tragic history of native American peoples.
