Should I Cancel My Trip To Europe?

When Australia's international border finally reopened in November, many of us started immediately planning and booking that much longed for trip overseas, feeling relieved that we'd finally be able to see loved ones and the world once again. But with the emergence of conflict in Ukraine, which is impacting many countries in Europe, airlines had to urgently start diverting planes away from the whole region, making your journey even more complicated. The Quicky speaks to a travel expert, and one of our own colleagues who is concerned about her impending trip to Greece to find out whether it is still safe to plan a holiday, or if international travel is back off the agenda for the foreseeable future. What Happens If House Prices Do Actually Drop?

It feels like every year we're told that the Australian property bubble is about to burst and we should all be poised to rush out and buy our dream home at a bargain price, but could this actually be a reality in 2022 and beyond? Philip Lowe, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia has hinted that record low interest rates could finally rise later this year, but while that should slow down house prices, it would also mean more expensive mortgages, so who really benefits? The Quicky speaks to a housing market expert to find out what it would actually mean for both buyers and sellers if the much anticipated drop in property prices actually happens in the not-too-distant future. "My Babies Were In The Car:" Escaping The Flood Zone

For weeks rain has continued to pour down across much of the east coast of Australia, causing floods of historic proportions in many towns and cities, cutting people off from communities and help. Tragically several people and countless animals have died, and while flood waters in some areas are starting to recede, the danger is far from over. The Quicky speaks to a woman trapped in Lismore with her family, and an emergency services commander to hear from those people directly impacted to find out what it's like for those currently living through this disaster. If you are currently impacted by the floods and require emergency assistance, please contact the relevant state authority: Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES): 132 500 / https://www.qfes.qld.gov.au/  NSW State Emergency Service (SES): 132 500 / https://www.ses.nsw.gov.au/  CREDITS  Host: Claire Murphy With thanks to:  Arlie Pagotto - Currently living through the floods with her family in Lismore, NSW John Cawcutt - Commander of State Operations for Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) Producer: Claire Murphy Executive Producer: Siobhán Moran-McFarlane Audio Producer: Ian Camilleri Subscribe to The Quicky at... https://mamamia.com.au/the-quicky/ CONTACT US Got a topic you'd like us to cover? Volodymyr Zelensky: Who Is The Man Standing Up To Putin?

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky is front and centre in news headlines as his country continues its efforts to repel the Russian military following the invasion late last week, but how much do we really know about him? You might have heard that he used to be a comic and actor, who almost lucked his way into the top job after playing the Ukrainian President on TV, but is that true? And has he really become a hero just one week into the conflict? The Quicky speak to an expert in Ukrainian society and politics to find out who this man is, and whether he really will be able to stand up to Russian President Vladimir Putin and bring an end to the violence before it escalates further. It's 2022, Stop Asking Women This Question

If you are or have ever been a woman aged anywhere between about 16 and 50, no doubt you will have been asked at some point whether you're pregnant, or when you're planning to have a baby, but why does anyone think it's their business to ask? It can be not only incredibly annoying, but also upsetting if it impacts your body image, triggering if you have struggled with fertility, and just downright frustrating if you have zero interest in giving birth. To find out why this is still such a common problem, The Quicky speaks to one of our own resident mums who has had a very complicated journey to parenthood, and knows first hand just how irritating it is for all women whether they want to become a parent or not. The Psychology of D*ck Pics

Have you ever received an unsolicited dick pic? If you said yes, you're not alone. Millions of women and men all over the world are being sent pictures of someone's junk every day and despite many of us saying we don't want to receive them, men continue to send them.  In this episode we look at the psychology of dick pics, why men send them and what they're hoping to get in return. What Did Putin Just Do?

Late yesterday afternoon our time, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave a live televised address, saying Russia had no intention of occupying Ukraine. Then minutes after that TV appearance authorised a military operation in the country’s Donbas region. So what does this mean for the world? What does this mean for Ukraine? And is there anything that can stop Vladimir Putin from starting a potential world war? Is It Wrong That I Watched That Shark Attack Video?

Last week a video of a man being fatally attacked by a shark in Sydney went viral. Hundreds, if not thousands of people were viewing and sharing this video on various social media platforms. But before social media there were shockumentaries, before them, public executions where people would go to watch a person's final moments, so why are some of us so interested in watching someone die?In this episode we speak to a psychologist about our strange fascination with death and the impact that these videos have on the victim's friends and family members.   CREDITS  Host: Claire Murphy With thanks to:  Tamara Cavenett is the President of the Australian Psychological Society   Producer: Claire Murphy Executive Producer: Siobhán Moran-McFarlane Producer: Kally Borg Audio Producer: Ian Camilleri Subscribe to The Quicky at... https://mamamia.com.au/the-quicky/ CONTACT US Got a topic you'd like us to cover?
