The Return Of The Mullet

Billy Ray Cyrus has probably the world's most famous one but his daughter Miley's is getting a good run too. Action stars were renowned for them at one stage - so were Aussie Rules football players - but after years in the fashion wilderness, the mullet is back. Men, women and all gender identities are again embracing the hairstyle that Australians have identified as part of our bogan past but now with a modern twist. Today, we look at the history of the iconic cut that's all business in the front, party in the back.  Subscribe to Mamamia GET IN TOUCH Feedback? We’re listening! Brittany Higgins And The Women Fighting The Sexual Violence Legal System

Content warning: This episode discusses details of sexual assault, please reach out to the resources listed below for help if you are in need.  One of the country's most anticipated criminal trials got underway this week, with former Liberal staffer Brittany Higgins taking her alleged rapist to court over an incident in Parliament House in 2019. But getting to this point hasn't been an easy road for anyone involved and for many survivors of sexual assault, even getting to have their day in court is too far out of their reach.  In today's episode, we look at how the criminal justice system is not set up for victims of sexual violence and what needs to be done to make the system more balanced for both the alleged victim and their accused.  Subscribe to Mamamia GET IN TOUCH Feedback? Why Is Everyone Freaking Out About The New Italian PM?

For the first time since World War II, a far-right fascist political party has taken the reigns of the Italian parliament. Its leader Georgia Meloni is the first female Prime Minister of the country, a fact that feminists across the globe would usually be celebrating but there are some very serious concerns about the views the journalist-turned-politician holds. In today’s episode, The Quicky team takes a look at who Georgia Meloni is and why she has the world worried about a slide back to a very dark time in our history. The Debilitating Condition That's Left A MAFS Star Bedridden

Like many of us, you probably heard the term hyperemesis gravidarum when Catherine the Princess of Wales was pregnant with George, Charlotte and Louis, but recently another celebrity, former MAFS star Martha Kalafatidis, has been experiencing the debilitating condition too. So why do some women end up with the extreme version of morning sickness that can leave them bedridden for months, with only childbirth the relief at the end of the struggle for some?  In today's episode, we look at the intense and sometimes crippling way a pregnant body can react when it's busy growing a tiny human.  Subscribe to Mamamia GET IN TOUCH Feedback? Could The Next Rate Rise Trap You In Mortgage Prison?

With another rate rise looking likely next week, there is a cohort of Australian home owners who have found themselves in a bit of a tricky situation. Some, looking to refinance and get a better deal than the higher rate they're on, aren't able to get any financial institution to help them because they no longer meet the documentation requirements when their mortgage repayments are taking up more of their household income, or their house is now worth less than their loan. This situation is known as a mortgage prison, when you can't afford the rate rise increases on your current mortgage but you also can't move to another option in order to make it more affordable.  In this episode, The Quicky team finds out how mortgage prisons work and what it takes to break free from one.  Subscribe to Mamamia GET IN TOUCH Feedback? Confused About The Optus Hack? Here’s What To Do

Optus has apologised to millions of customers who recently had a stack of their personal data stolen from them by hackers. Some of that data included names, addresses, birth dates and their Medicare, driver’s license or passport numbers, things that could be easily used to access other platforms like, say, internet banking or to set up new accounts using their ID. In today’s episode, The Quicky team speaks to the journalist who has been in direct contact with the alleged hacker and a cyber security expert to look at what to do when your personal details have been stolen and whether there really is anything you can do to counteract it.
