Do you remember when we all queued up to roll up our sleeves to receive the COVID-19 vaccination? We made a commitment to getting the shot, not just to protect ourselves from the impacts of the virus, but also to safeguard our family, friends and strangers around us.  Recently, however, our motivation to get vaccinated has definitely waned. During the week a 95 year old woman, suffering with dementia, was tasered by police in her nursing home. The whole country was shocked.  Now there are questions. Nitrous Oxide, commonly known by various names such as laughing gas, cream whips, hippy crack, nos, whippits, or nangs, is a gas that induces a short-lasting euphoric high lasting around 30 seconds. Due to its accessibility, it has gained massive popularity as a recreational drug among Aussie teens.  And while there are a growing number of Australians using the gas, some are discovering that it can result in severe consequences. Teenager Molly Day is now facing the harsh reality that she may never walk again after developing an addiction to this substance. The new Labor Government promised to reduce emissions by 43% by 2030...but last week, Australia's Environmental Minister Tanya Plibersek, green lit a new coal mine in central Queensland, the first to be approved under the new government.  Considering our awareness of the detrimental impacts of coal and its contribution to global warming, it raises the question of why, in 2023, we are still granting approval for new coal mines?
