Should Dangerous Dog Breeds Be Banned?

Last week two separate dog attacks left people hospitalised. These attacks have stirred politicians into action, with Bill Shorten labelling certain breeds as 'sharks on legs' and calling for them to be banned.  In this episode of The Quicky, we take a look at why certain dog breeds are getting a bad rap, and if anything can be done to prevent them from attacking.  Subscribe to Mamamia GET IN TOUCH Feedback? Can These Aussie Pollies Save Julian Assange?

Julian Assange has been one of the most divisive and talked-about figures of the past two decades. In 2006, Assange founded Wikileaks and came to international attention in 2010 after publishing a trove of leaked classified US military documents about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Alongside those documents Wikileaks published shocking footage that rippled around the world of a US airstrike in Baghdad in which an American crew shot down Iraqi civilians, including two staff working for Reuters news. For the publication of this classified information and other allegations, Assange has been a wanted man for many years.  Now, a large group of Australian politicians are joining forces to lobby the US government to stop their legal pursuit of Queensland-born Assange.  So, why after more than 10 years is this group of MPs stepping in now?  And will they succeed in finally bringing Assange home a free man? She Named Her Baby 'Methamphetamine Rules' To Get The Story

Over the years we've seen some pretty interesting baby names, from Apple to North, even Pilot and Cricket. And then there's Elon Musk's son X Æ A-12 - supposedly pronounced 'Ash'.  But this week, Australian journalist Kirsten Drysdale made headlines after naming her newborn boy something seriously controversial: Methamphetamine Rules.  Drysdale was testing the limits of Australia’s Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages to see if the name could possibly be approved and to her surprise…it was.  In this episode of The Quicky we take a look at the names you can and can't name your new bundle of joy, and just how Methamphetamine Rules slipped past the approvals.  Subscribe to Mamamia Complete the survey for a chance to go in the running to win a $50 gift voucher - survey link here GET IN TOUCH Feedback?
