Can Your Boss Still Call You After Right To Disconnect Laws Pass?

Over 90% of Australians have a smart phone. And more often than not, they seem to be stuck to our hot little hands, meaning we can be contacted by anyone at anytime, including by our bosses outside of working hours. But that's all about to change.  A new law has passed that gives employees a "right to disconnect" from work, ignoring emails and calls outside of work hours.  In this episode of The Quicky, we look at what it actually looks like and what implications it might have on us when we decide to hit ignore on the bosses calls or leave them on read.  To read Chris's piece Smartphones mean we’re always available to our bosses. ‘Right to disconnect’ laws are a necessary fix click here. Here's Why Millions Of Your Favourite Tik Tok Videos Have Fallen Silent

Have you been on TikTok lately and noticed a lot of videos are now silent? That's because Universal Music Group, or UMG, have decided to remove the music they own from the video sharing platform.  In this episode of The Quicky, we speak to an expert who can tell us why this is happening, as well as Aussie artist Amy Sheppard from the band Sheppard (yes the guys who sang Geronimo!) about how this move will affect her and other artists who rely on the social media exposure to get the support from their record labels.   Check out Amy's new song Small Town Rumours here. "It's Really Infuriating": Teacher Confessional After First Weeks Back

We often think about how the kids and parents are coping in those first few days and weeks of school, but what about those who've been back in the classroom way before the students? Teachers have been busy getting the classroom ready for the new influx of faces, learning the names of 30 to 100 children to make sure they don't feel alone in their education experience, sometimes taking money out of their own pockets to ensure those in schools with less funding, have the ability to at least write on something or with something. But despite the difficulties (yes, we include parental interactions in that category) teachers describe the joy they feel when the school year begins again.  Want to try our new exercise app?
