Sam Frost Wears Her Heart On Her Sleeve
She enrolled in The Bachelor to 'shake things up' in her life. Two years on, Sam Frost is Australia's sweetheart: the loveable girl-next-door with a brekkie radio gig next to Rove McManus. But the path to get there was paved with pain. She had her heart smashed into a million pieces in front of the nation, which sent her spinning into despair and grief. But her belief that she would be happy again - and that the universe would lead her there- led her to a real life fairytale romance. She talks to Mia about life and love in the public eye, dealing with trolls, mental health breakdowns, what really happened when Blake Garvey broke up with her, and the feeling that the whole world is waiting for you to fail. Richard Fidler Doesn't Like Being Interviewed
How do you make an ordinary person seem like a rock star? You put them in front of Richard Fidler. His cult ABC radio show, Conversations, is Australia's most popular podcast, downloaded more than 1.8 million times per month. And Richard is the puppet master; drawing you deep into the stories of people you have probably never heard of. Today, he is on the receiving end of the questions. Keira Maguire: Cult Figure of The Bachelor
She's feisty, funny, and after she scowled into the spotlight on The Bachelor Australia, she found herself as the crowd favourite. But for Keira Maguire, it came with a massive amount of scrutiny. After Woman’s Day revealed she grew up in a polygamist cult, the Bachelor star talks to Mia about being cast as the villain, growing up "different" and what she’s going to do next. The interview doesn't quite go to plan. But sometimes, when there is No Filter, things can get messy. Show Notes Your host is Mia Freedman. With thanks to special guest Keira Maguire. Loren O'Keeffe: "I still forget Dan's not missing any more."
In 2011, Loren O'Keeffe's world changed forever. Her 24-year-old brother Dan walked out of the family home and disappeared. Loren quit her job immediatley, set up a Dan Come Home movement and spent the next five years answering emails, trawling soup kitchens and chasing every lead that came her way. In March of 2016, all that came to a halt, when Dan's body was found under the family home. Today Loren joins Mia on a very raw No Filter to talk about her life now that Dan is no longer missing, and why she will never stop helping those people who are missing through her charity, the Missing Persons Advocacy Network. BONUS: Rebecca Sparrow on Love,Loss and Empty Arms
Look around you. Look at the women in your life. Did you know, one in three of them will have a miscarriage in their lifetime? And around 2000 women this year will have a stillbirth. That's a lot of women you know. I am one of them. And so is my very dear friend, Rebecca Sparrow. That’s why at Mamamia, we decided to establish a support group for these women. This week at Mamamia it's Pregnancy Loss Awareness Week, and to shine some light on the stories of these women that so often go untold, I thought I would re-release this conversation Bec and I had about love, loss and empty arms. Because for the women that go through it, and the ones who stand by them, how do you deal with something so personal? Show Notes You can find all the details on how to join the Facebook group and where to download the eBook at mamamia.com.au/never-forgotten Your host is Mia Freedman. Kathy Lette: "The Word Autism Was a Knife To My Heart."
To many, she's considered a fast-talking Aussie who created Puberty Blues. But when you dig a little deeper, you realise that author Kathy Lette is so much more than the vivacious outfits she wears. For most of her public life, she kept quiet about the fact that her eldest son Jules had autism. But in 2012, after unintentionally writing about it in The Boy Who Fell to Earth, Kathy realised that it was better to shine a light into a dark corner then just leave it in the dark. And that's exactly what she has been doing ever since. Show Notes Your host was Mia Freedman With thanks to Kathy Lette. You can find out how to buy all of her books here.
