It was 2018. Late at night. Melissa Hopkins was sitting in her bed. She was about to reveal something deeply personal about herself to the world, something that she had been suffering with for over 20 years but had never spoken about publicly, but on the eve of R U OK day in 2018, a suicide prevention day in Australia that aims to start conversations about mental health, Melissa decided to speak out. You see Melissa is the Head of Consumer Marketing at Optus which essentially means she is a very important person in a very big company but unbeknownst to her colleagues, both past and present, Melissa had been suffering from severe depression since she was a teenager.  It was something she didn’t talk about publicly in case people’s perception of her changed as a person and as a boss.  But since that moment, her world has gotten so much better. Right now, across the country two out of three young women between the ages of 12 and 18 have been asked to send a nude photo of themselves to someone.  But what happens after they send it? Sophie Hyde is an Australian film director, mother and the creator of the hit SBS show The Hunting that is a four part series about teen sexting and scandal.  She spent months researching why teens send nude selfies, and what she found was incredibly surprising. Tully Smyth rose to fame after appearing on Big Brother in 2013.  She also unintentionally became the show's villain when she cheated on her longtime girlfriend with a guy she met in the house.   Since then, Tully has lived a lot of her life in the public eye and has carved out a living as an influencer.  A term she really struggles with.   Tully is the host of our brand new podcast, Social Squad, which goes behind-the-scenes of the perfectly curated lives of some of Australia's most successful influencers. Brisbane based singer/songwriter Amy Sheppard spent years altering the way she looked in her Instagram photos. Like most women who upload images to their feeds, she wanted to look polished, smooth, perfect.  And then she realised that she was making the women, both young and old who follow her, feel bad about their bodies.  So she decided to stop. She stopped editing out her cellulite. Stopped smoothing her legs. She stopped making herself look airbrushed.  And instead, she started a movement called Kiss My Fat Ass - that promotes normal features such as cellulite, rolls, and scars. You see Amy is a member of Aria award-winning Aussie band Sheppard - alongside two of her siblings. Rachael Casella met her husband Jonny when she was training to be a police officer and he was one of her instructors. Nothing happened until the training was finished, but then, the pair fell in love.  They got married. And as they went on their honeymoon, they started trying for a baby. But, like so many things in life, nothing followed a simple plan.  Rachael did eventually fall pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful little girl called Mackenzie. But Mackenzie had Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and Rachael and Johnny only got to hold her for seven months. When American author Candace Bushnell released her first book Sex And The City, she had no idea the impact it was about to have on the world.  That book and those stories would go on to form one of the most iconic characters of the 21st century, Carrie Bradshaw.
