Jesus never told anyone to go and build buildings. He told us to go and build up people. He told us to love God and love people. He never told us to fix people, change people or save anyone. He told us to create environments and opportunities for people that we care about to "bump into" Jesus...and then, Jesus could do what only Jesus can do. Over the past years at flatirons, people who believed that this was true made sure that each one of us had a place where we could come and "bump into Jesus". Now, it's our turn. We're calling it BRiX-Building Relationships in Christ...because that's what it's always been about.

From the first time Jesus opened his mouth and began to teach about what it looked like to live connected to God, he amazed everyone who heard by using one word: BUT. Noone had ever heard anybody say the things he said. The crazy thing about it was that he didn't change anything about what God had already said, BUT he applied it differently. In this series, we are going to explore a few of those "but" teachings that kicked the religious world in the seat of its pants--and might flip our world upside down as well. So, whether we're "unpacking junk from our trunk" or "turning the other cheek"--one big BUT can change everything.

Lots of times in the Bible, Jesus would compare things that people were familiar with to deeper, spiritual questions. That's what we want to do in this series. In baseball, it's easy to know who's winning. Look at the scoreboard and see who has scored the most runs. But, what about life? How do you know if you're winning in life? That's what we're going to try to answer in this series. Welcome to the game!
