Ingrid Löfdahl Bentzer
On DOAPTC this time is former world number 15, Ingrid Löfdahl Bentzer, The Swede, a contemporary of Billie-Jean King and Chrissie Evert, was one of the first mothers on Tour. In this chat with Candy Reid, Ingrid recounts how she was once paid in Cress Sandwiches; Breastfeeding just before matches, playing BJK on Centre Court at Wimbledon (and handling the nerves thanks to some great advice) and then later, her role at the ITF, and the decisions she made then, which are more relevant than ever, now! It's a fascinating listen of how much the game has changed and how fortunate the players on the WTA Tour are now. Ingrid is a trailblazer and an excellent story-teller. For young players needing a combined nutrition and match strategy booklet in order to develop good habits around tournaments, look no further than this excellent book by former pro Julie Sinkins.https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tennis-Match-Journal-Nutritional-guidance/dp/B0DS24YYZH/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=GPZF2XELIKWO&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.vCrVe3HXUEA0pnEHzl8rh6vvlVC20IRhS4Rbdh5DqIqpJd-1H9XECl5ZzNr7TwfdtYkTASc-CVtYXuQigpzfi-8PJrYUIXQW_817xlPS5x3xFuPe1bYAuqCzzHDs5MieSFSshhIgXgtLBj345D94FwlV6MBrwIA44zZpwPr79AuLEE6gB3YJI1xMG3k3dLqasjdfyJRNTxSnWeq1sxwznA.dB7N2HAMcACFUQcTL2ZRRH2fEjaQq6Q8S5sY4BTxoOQ&dib_tag=se&keywords=tennis+match+journal&qid=1739882654&sprefix=tennis+match%2Caps%2C88&sr=8-1 Hosted on Acast. Graham Anderson - Physio
One of the best physio's in professional tennis (and plenty of other sports too) joins DOAPTC on this episode. What Graham Anderson doesn't know about the body, probably doesn't need to be known - although he's an extremely humble man - as you'll hear. Graham tells Candy all about the most common injuries in tennis, his life on Tour and how he got to where he is. It's part of professional tennis that probably isn't spoken about enough, but ask any player and they'll tell you that the physiotherapists are arguably the most important part of the team, especially in this day and age, where the speed of the game is just accelerating with every passing moment. You can see excerpts of this podcast on YouTube.
