ADHD Female Founders Reveal the Brutal Truth About Running a Business

How many times have you thought about closing down your business this month? This week? Today?Every single hand went up when I asked four female ADHD founders that question. Because here's what nobody posts on Instagram: running a business with ADHD is the quickest way to figure out how your ADHD shows up as both a struggle AND a strength. In this raw, honest, and hilarious live panel, I sat down with Jess (Sacred and Wild), Cat (Yogi Bare), Katie France (Love Bomb Bags), and Natt (Waking Dreams) to talk about the reality of being a female founder with ADHD.We talk about people-pleasing that nearly cost Cat her entire business, Katie's struggle with posting out the right bags to the right people (executive function is REAL), why having two ADHD brains in business together means you might "accidentally commit fraud," and how Jess's perfectionism has kept years of work hidden from the world. But we also talk about why none of us go back. Why the 9-5 isn't an option for brains wired like ours. Why freedom matters more than money. And why, despite everything, we keep showing up.Natt drops the mic with: "Your ADHD would not even be a talking point without capitalism."And Jess reminds us all: "I see the work people put out into the world and I just think, bloody well done. I don't judge it. I just really respect people trying and just being out there doing it."This one's for every woman who's ever felt like giving up but keeps showing up anyway.IN THIS EPISODE:✨ Why we all threaten to quit (regularly)✨ How people-pleasing can cost you everything✨ Executive function struggles are not stupidity✨ The reality of working with other ADHDers✨ How perfectionism keeps you stuck✨ Why we can't go back to corporate burnout✨ The real reason we keep going (it's not money)✨ Why capitalism makes ADHD "problematic"✨ Taking a day off is productive, actually✨ Giving yourself the same grace you give other womenFour incredible women. Four thriving businesses. Four ADHD brains refusing to dim down.Generator. Alive. Colourful. Chaotic. Not broken. Not struggling. Not failing.Bloody well done for just doing it.

Dr Asad Raffi: The ADHD Myths That Are Ruining Your Life

For decades, women with ADHD have been told they're "just anxious," "just depressed," or "just stressed." Meanwhile, their physical symptoms - heavy periods, migraines, gut issues, dizziness when standing - have been dismissed as separate problems. They're not. They're all connected.Dr. Asad Raffi has assessed thousands of ADHD women and discovered something revolutionary: ADHD is a brain-body condition. The female presentation doesn't even resemble what's in the diagnostic manuals. So how is a clinician using a checklist going to diagnose any woman? They can't. And they haven't.In this raw and honest conversation, Dr. Asad explains why 50%+ of women sitting in GP waiting rooms could actually have undiagnosed ADHD, why the medical system has failed women for so long, and what actually needs to change. We explore the micro-fractures of accumulated trauma, why ADHD can look like complex PTSD, the "whole heap of shit" happening beneath the surface that single-lens diagnosis misses, and the critical importance of understanding hormones, inflammation, and the brain-body connection. And in the most moving moment of the interview, when asked what he said to his teenage daughter when she got diagnosed with ADHD, his answer was simple:"Welcome to the club."This conversation will change how you see ADHD, your body, and yourself.IN THIS EPISODE:✨ Why physical symptoms are the primary indicator of ADHD in women✨ The connection between hormones, inflammation, and brain health✨ Why women have been chronically misdiagnosed for decades✨ ADHD vs complex PTSD - understanding micro-fractures and accumulated trauma✨ Why looking at ADHD from a singular lens will always get it wrong✨ The importance of community, connection, and reaching out✨ What he told his daughter when she was diagnosedDr. Asad Raffi is a leading consultant psychiatrist, founder of Sanctum Healthcare, and father of three girls. His mission was born from his daughter's ADHD diagnosis - and he's determined that no woman is left misunderstood.

Is “ADHD” an Insult, Label Or Source Of Strength? with Wynford Dore

If you have ever watched your child come home shattered by another school day, sat in a meeting being told there is “nothing more we can do”, felt torn between hating the “ADHD” label and needing the support… then this episode is for you. This week, we’re joined by someone who has been around ADHD Untangled since the very beginning. A friend, a big thinker and a man who has poured his life into changing the story for neurodivergent kids and families: Wynford Dore.On paper, Wynford is the founder of Zing, the owner of private schools and someone who has spent millions researching the brain. But his story starts at home, with his daughter Susie.Susie was diagnosed as severely dyslexic around the age of nine. The message the family got was basically, this is just how it is. As she grew up, the struggle did not stay in the classroom. It crept into her confidence, her mental health and her sense of self. She became so depressed and hopeless that she tried to take her own life, more than once.Wynford reached the point many parents know too well. Watching his child suffer hurt more than anything else, and “nothing we can do” was not an acceptable answer. So he did what most people only dream of.He sold his successful business. He poured his time, energy and money into finding a different way to help kids like Susie. That work became the brain development programmes he runs today, helping children, adults and high performers all over the world reset how their brain works and rediscover confidence.Recently, Wynford lost Susie. After everything they went through and everything their story has changed for others, he now carries that grief as well. Yet he is still here, still doing this work, still fighting so fewer families have to go through what they did.And he believes, very strongly, that the word ADHD itself has become an insult. Not because there is anything wrong with the people who receive that label. But because of the shame and misunderstanding that have been attached to it.Together we untangle:🧠 How labels like ADHD and dyslexia shape confidence, behaviour and self worth at school 🔁 What Wynford’s work shows about neuroplasticity and why the brain can change more than most of us were told 🗣 What to actually say when your child feels stupid, broken or left behind 🚪 How parents and teachers can respond when the system says “nothing more we can do”, and why that sentence is not the end of the road 🌱 Simple, real life ways to start rebuilding hope and meaning again, even after years of failed support or school traumaWynford brings decades of experience in brain development and working with children, families and high performers. I bring the tangled ADHD heart, the coaching room stories and my own belief that ADHD can be both struggle and strength. This one is tender, honest and at times emotional. It is for:💭 Parents who are scared their child will never believe in themselves 📚 Teachers and school staff who know the system is failing kids and want to do better 🧡 ADHDers who have felt humiliated by their label, yet also suspect there is real strength in the way their brain worksIf you have spent years feeling like the label ADHD is a life sentence, or feeling like you have to pretend it is all positive in order to be accepted, I want this episode to feel like a deep breath for your nervous system. You are allowed to hold both. You are allowed to grieve the struggle and still build a life that feels meaningful and yours.Let’s get untangled and show the world what we are made of. 🧡💡 Want to dive deeper? 🧡 Join the free Untangled Community → click here🎓 Become an ADHD-Informed Coach → click here 🧘 Retreats → click here ✨ Follow us → @adhd_untangledLots of love and strength, Rosie 🧡🖤

ADHD & Love: Why You’re Not “Too Much” with Dr Anna Machin

Have you ever wondered…Why you keep chasing intense, slightly toxic love and then get bored when things finally feel calm?If it is actually love at first sight or just your dopamine having a field day?If you are simply “too much” for love altogether?Whether even penguins are as faithful as we were told at school, or if they are out there mixing it up too?Same. If you have ever cried over someone you knew was wrong for you, felt like rejection might actually break you, or tried to turn yourself down to be “easier” to love, this episode is for you. This week I am joined by Oxford-trained evolutionary anthropologist and real-life love scientist, Dr Anna Machin. Yes, that Dr Anna from Diary of a CEO. Together we untangle the messy, addictive, beautiful world of love through the lens of ADHD.From the very first minute we go straight into the questions you secretly Google at 1am:❤️ Is this love or just dopamine? 🚩 Why do I fall for red flags then get bored when things are calm? 🤯 Am I actually “too much” for love? 🐧 And if even penguins are at it, is anyone really built for lifelong monogamy?Dr Anna brings the science. I bring the tangled ADHD heart. Together we untangle:🧠 Why ADHD brains crave intensity and the high of early chemistry💞 Why “love at first sight” is a myth and what your brain is really doing💔 Rejection sensitivity, heartbreak withdrawal and why it hurts so much📱 Dating apps, overstimulation and why they fry your brain🐧 What penguins, cheating and monogamy can actually teach us about real connectionThis one is tender, funny in places and very real. ADHD & Gut Health: It’s Not Just in Your Head with Dr Miguel

If your brain is telling you one thing (“be good, eat clean, regulate”) but your body is quietly raiding the cupboards at 10pm, this episode will make you feel wildly seen. This week, we’re going back in time to our ADHD Untangled Live Event with everyone’s favourite go to dancing neuroscientist, Dr Miguel Mateas, to talk about something we don’t get taught enough about: the gut-brain connection in ADHD.Because so many of us have been told our eating is about willpower. Dr Miguel is here to say: it’s about regulation.Your gut, your microbes, your sleep, your nervous system - they’re all talking to your ADHD brain. We get into why bingeing shows up, why restriction makes it worse, why late diagnosis, trauma, and ADHD results in more vulnerability to disordered eating, and how to rebuild trust with your body without 57 food rules. 🧠 What we’re Untangling:🌀 How ADHD, trauma and disordered eating overlap🥗 Why we use food to self-regulate (and why that’s not “weakness”)🦠 What the gut-brain axis actually is - in normal human language🛏 The one habit that helps your gut and your hunger cues more than any diet🫂 How connection, touch and movement regulate the nervous system too🚫 Artificial dyes, alcohol and “is this actually making ADHD worse?”🍰 Why food is love - and why we keep denying ourselves it💫 Why listen:Because when you understand your biology, you stop blaming your personality. This conversation will help you work with your ADHD body, not against it - so meals feel calmer, binges feel less shameful, and you remember you’re not broken, you’re sensitive.🧡 Join the free Untangled Community → click here🎓ADHD Coach Training → click here🧘Retreats → click here✨ Follow us → @adhd_untangledLet’s get untangled and show the world what we’re made of. 🧡Lots of love & strength,Rosie
