The Senate Judiciary Committee must released a report titled, "Subverting Justice: How the Former President and His Allies Pressured DOJ to Overturn the 2020 Election." Among other crimes, the Senate details how Trump pressured acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen to overturn the election results. The conduct described in the report makes clear that Trump committed the crime of Coercion of Political Activity, 18 US Code section 610. Donald Trump's crimes, cover-up and corruption continue unabated. Two defendants were just sentenced to relatively short prison terms for participating in the attack on the US Capitol on January 6. As reported by the Washington Post, there were two important aspects of the sentencing hearings: first, the defendants both said some version of, "I got swept up in the moment" and "I got carried away." The Republican Party has been trying to nefariously use the law in efforts to hold down, defeat and demoralize certain segments of the American populaiotn, from voter suppression laws to redistricting/gerrymandering to recounts/audits/fraudits and passing laws depriving women of their constitutionally protected privacy rights.
