85 | You Are Always Visualizing Whether You Realize It or Not

The title of this episode is quote from Spiritual Teacher and Mental Scientist Genevieve Behrend.  Many of us believe that the process of visualization is something done with set aside time and focused intention. Although used this way with success, visualization is also a process we use on a day to day, moment to moment basis. We are constantly visualizing our futures to help us navigate present moment decisions. We worry, we fear, we have hope, we ask "what-if" etc etc.  In this episode we discuss practical tools to bring awareness to this fact. The episode mentioned in the beginning on Imagination is Episode 32 of the podcast. Be sure to check that one out for a deeper dive into our imaginative faculties and why it is so important.  The Soul Builder LIVE event is a great way to become more conscious of what you visualize and it's right around the corner! When we expand our consciousness we gain more of our own power back. In order to access higher levels of consciousness you need to be in a state of low stress. You may have heard of these simple practices before and may know them intellectually but we really want you to think about how you ground them into your own life. Listen along to learn about these simple practices so you can find your center and access those higher levels of consciousness by: Walking and admiring nature - when we actually pay attention to what’s going on around us we stay in the present moment Admiring art - art can reflect back to us an inner knowing that we can create something new in our lives Deep breathing - it slows down our physiology in a positive way to activate our parasympathetic nervous system Meditation - this can come in many forms and helps us find stillness Metacognition - when we notice what we're noticing we can begin to question and shift our thoughts It’s important for us to remember that doing this work is meaningful because it is not just about ourselves. It’s about the change we can make in the world. 80 | Becoming A SelfHealer with Dr. Nicole LePera (The Holistic Psychologist)

Our society is no stranger to depression, anxiety and just everyday struggles of life. Many people want to change their lives, but genuinely have no idea where to start and feel confused on why making these changes is so hard. To help in overcoming these challenges we are truly honored to have a very special guest, New York Times best selling author, Dr. Nicole LePera (The Holistic Psychologist)! Listen along as Dr. Nicole dives into her story, her background as to how she became a holistic psychologist, and her book, How to Do The Work. Nicole defines what holistic psychology is and then we dive deep into how important it is to explore what the underlying symptoms or patterns are when it comes to depression, anxiety, etc. When we get to the why, we can begin to do the work that is necessary to begin making changes in our lives. In today’s episode you will learn: Where do you start? - Remember that this is a journey. Why is the work hard? - We spend most of our day living from the subconscious mind. What is consciousness? - This is becoming aware of ourselves and what is truly happening in our lives. How do you know it’s working? - We change by becoming more aware and more uncomfortable. What is trauma? - Understanding how our experience in certain situations and events shape how we live our lives today. How do we feel safe in our bodies? - Body based practices, such as breathwork. Dr. Nicole LePera explains that being a self-healer means to do “the work”. Everything starts within ourselves. As SelfHealers, we acknowledge the wholeness within ourselves. We are not broken, rather, we are disconnected from ourselves. It’s simply a part of the process that we peel back the layers of the onion to gain the relationship with ourselves and who we truly are. If you would like to follow Dr. Nicole LePera or learn more about her, you can find her on the following platforms: Instagram - @the.hollistic.psychologist Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/the.holistic.psychologist/ YouTube - The Holistic Psychologist Free Future Self Journal prompts - www.yourholisticpsychologist.com SelfHealers Circle - https://selfhealerscircle.yourholisticpsychologist.com/ Happy listening :) Nicole’s Bio: Dr. Nicole LePera was trained in clinical psychology at Cornell University and the New School for Social Research. She also studied at the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis. As a clinical psychologist in private practice, Dr. Nicole LePera often found herself frustrated by the limitations of traditional psychotherapy.  Wanting more for her patients— and for self— she began a journey to develop a united philosophy of mental, physical, and spiritual health that equips people with the tools necessary to heal themselves. She is the creator of the #SelfHealers movement where people from around the world are joining together in community to take healing into their own hands. Her first book, How to Do the Work, is currently available and just two weeks ago became a NYT #1 best seller!
