Sudan: Another Forgotten War
The current so-called ‘civil war’ in Sudan began in April 2023. It has had almost no coverage in any mainstream news. Deaths and injuries as a result of the conflict are estimated to be in the tens of thousands, with a general acceptance that the estimates are likely to be well below reality. In addition, nearly 25 million people are experiencing extreme hunger there.Mike Robinson speaks to Professor Isa Blumi about the Sudan conflict and its place in the wider region. We discuss competing geopolitical interests, why this is yet another example of a conflict driven by geopolitics, and why, for example, Tony Blair considers the Sahel to be of vital importance.Isa Blumi is Professor of Turkish and Middle Eastern Studies at Stockholm University within the Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. He holds a PhD in History and Middle Eastern/Islamic Studies from New York University (2005) and a Master of Political Science and Historical Studies (1995) from The New School for Social Research in New York.🌐 Explore all our written and video content on the UK Column website https://www.ukcolumn.org/ 💪 Support our independent journalism here https://support.ukcolumn.org/ 🛍️ Check out my shop here https://shop.ukcolumn.org/

Jerm Warfare - Tim Hinchliffe on balancing progress and privacy
Jerm and Tim Hinchliffe, an investigative journalist at The Sociable who exposes the shadowy underbelly of tech-driven agendas, unpack the dark side of digital identity systems and how they're being woven into society by elite government and corporate forces. Tim lays out how these technologies tie into the so-called Great Reset and Fourth Industrial Revolution, blending digital, biological, and physical realms to reshape global control and erode personal freedoms under the guise of progress. They dive deeper into the ethical traps of this tech takeover, weighing supposed advancements against the raw threat to liberty, with surveillance tools primed for manipulation and dominance by hidden powers. Sharing stories from regions with raw, unpolished infrastructures, they highlight the genuine community and autonomy there that starkly contrasts the stifling grip of high-tech Western setups, urging sharp discernment and active resistance to stay ahead of these engineered shifts in privacy and self-rule.Tim's website: https://sociable.co🌐 Explore all our written and video content on the UK Column website https://www.ukcolumn.org/ 💪 Support our independent journalism here https://support.ukcolumn.org/ 🛍️ Check out my shop here https://shop.ukcolumn.org/

Jerm Warfare - Complex systems, propaganda, and culture
In this conversation, Jerm and Nick Hudson, a sharp critic of globalist centralisation and the engineered COVID narratives through his work with PANDA, delve into the tangled misconceptions about China, shredding the mainstream hype around its so-called surveillance state, rich cultural diversity, and explosive economic growth that's often twisted by Western agendas. They expose how media distortions bury the real pulse of life in China, stressing the weight of historical truths and the grounded, no-nonsense mindset of its people that defies Soros-backed propaganda. The chat also probes the shaky ground of freedom of speech and movement in both China and the increasingly controlled West, calling for a clear-eyed grasp of the shadowy geopolitical games at play. It's all about complex systems rather than binary thinking.Nick's X profile: https://x.com/NickHudsonCTTo see all our written and video content, please visit the UK Column website: https://www.ukcolumn.org/If you would like to support the work we do, you can do so at https://support.ukcolumn.org/

Ben Rubin-The Corporate Takeover of Music & Culture
Ben Rubin – former corporate consultant, underground DJ, and now UK Column journalist – delivers a powerful talk at the Hope Freedom Festival, exposing how corporations and global institutions have hijacked culture, music, and society itself. For nearly two decades, Ben lived a “double life”: working in high-powered consultancy by day and DJ’ing in the underground rave scene by night. In 2020, he left the corporate world to pursue music full-time. But lockdowns not only destroyed live events — they revealed how quickly culture, festivals, and grassroots movements surrendered to the very systems they once resisted. In this talk, Ben introduces his “skin suit” metaphor: institutions that still look the same on the surface but have been hollowed out and captured from within. From health and food to politics, money, and music, systems that once served people now serve profit, global agendas, and authoritarian control. To see all our written and video content, please visit the UK Column website: https://www.ukcolumn.org/If you would like to support the work we do, you can do so at https://support.ukcolumn.org/

Weekly UKC Banter: Episode 17
In this weekly banter, Jerm, Mike, and Charles share their firsthand experiences and alternative views on China, zeroing in on the Xinjiang region and the fabricated narratives pushed by Western media to demonise it. They unpack the tangled web of cultural biases, the heavy hand of propaganda in distorting realities, and how building tight-knit communities can cut through the fog of societal deceptions. The chat digs into the struggles of breaking free from ideological traps set by global elites, the double-edged sword of technology in spreading controlled messages, and why grassroots, local fixes are key to countering engineered global crises, wrapping up with a mix of grim realism about the manipulated future and a spark of optimism for real change through awakened action.
