Fear & Stage Fright
I'm super excited about today's episode because this week on The Big Talk, we're talking about two things that all speakers have in common: fear and stage fright. In fact, anyone who has ever taken a stage in any capacity — as a speaker, a dancer, an actor, a singer — has experienced these sensations. They are natural. However, fear and stage fright can have overwhelming power if you allow them to. They can prevent you from being yourself. They can even stop you from getting onto those big stages and from telling your story for impact. And the best way to take back your power over fear and stage fright is to unpack them and dig in — which is exactly what we're doing together today. You're going to walk away from this episode with greater confidence in how to take the big stages you're meant for, resolve for why you're taking them, and knowing what you can do when your fear begins to creep its way back in. Because while you may be by yourself on a stage, at The Big Talk, you are never alone in your speaking journey.

Feedback
In today's episode, I'm diving deep into the sensitive issue of feedback. Feedback can be difficult to receive at times. However, as a speaker, it is crucial for growth and impact. The key is to get really specific when it comes to your feedback. You have to know how to ask for it, how to give it, and also, how to receive it in return. I'm sharing examples of feedback I've personally received and uncovering how when you learn to ask for the right kind of feedback, receiving it becomes so much easier and truly helpful. The more visible you become as a thought-leader or speaker, the more thoughts and feedback you're naturally going to receive. And it becomes increasingly vital to ask for what you want and to learn how to receive what you get. My sincere hope is that this episode will inspire you, provide you with tangible tools, and show you a new way to receive the feedback you need as you use your voice powerfully in this world.

How to Write Your Story and Find Your Community with Kent Sanders
Today's show features a phenomenal guest, Kent Sanders. He is a fellow creative who has firmly established himself in the world of writing. Kent's the founder of Inkwell Ghostwriting — a company that helps leaders grow their business through books and other content. He is also a professor and the author of The Artist's Suitcase: 26 Essentials for the Creative Journey. Kent and I begin our chat with the quintessential first love of all writers — a good backstory. We bond over our mutual experience of growing up in small towns in Missouri and reflect on how that has shaped us as people. Kent also shares how the profound sense of community so many of us crave when imagining small town life is something he is diligently working to build for his virtual community of writers. And, as we know in The Big Talk community, you don't have to be in a single town or place to find a deeply supportive group of your people. Beyond values and community, Kent pulls back the curtain for us on the art of telling a powerful story, and on getting out of your own way to use your voice and tell yours. Whether you're preparing to speak to thousands of people from a stage or you're finally ready to put pen to paper and write your book, the world needs your story and I know this conversation with Kent is going to inspire you to tell it courageously. You just have to start.
