Guiding Your Children To A Bright Future
— "The Little Prince was right—many grownups don't remember very much from when they were children. They've forgotten the special talents they had and the things they loved to do." With the odds stacked against them, can you help the children you love grow up to find the ideal career that's a great match for their unique talents and interests? With Karleen Tauszik book designed especially for kids, in just 20 minutes or so a year, children answer five or six fun questions to record their interests, talents, strengths and achievements. By the time, your children are old enough to start thinking about college majors or vo-tech school options, they'll have this keepsake, jam-packed with valuable insights about their true gifts, skills, achievements, and interests. Valeria Teles interviews Karleen Tauszik — the author of "When I Grow Up, I Want to Be...: The Annual Career Possibility Journal for Kids..." Karleen Tauszik is the indie author of over 20 books. She primarily writes fiction and non-fiction for children ages 8-12. As a child, she had the goal (not met) to read every book in the children's section of her local library. Through her writing, she hopes to entice kids to have that same love of books. Karleen resigned from her career in Human Resources over three years ago to write full time. She lives in the Tampa Bay area with her husband who is a professional ventriloquist and magician. True Strength Arises From Loving Yourself
— "These days, I can't even be Nadia's hero. I can't rescue her from life's tragedies. I can only support her with an open heart. The only person for whom I can be ultimately responsible is the nine-year-old girl inside of me." Valeria Teles interviews Laila Tarraf — the author of "Strong Like Water: How I Found the Courage to Lead with Love in Business and in Life." Laila Tarraf is a senior human resource executive with over 25 years of professional experience. After graduating with her MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley, she became one of the founding team members at Walmart.com. She then served as Chief People Officer at Peet's Coffee and Tea, an iconic Bay Area premium coffee company. Currently, Laila is the Head of People and Employee Experience for AllBirds, is a trusted advisor to entrepreneurs and investors, and is a regular guest lecturer at Berkeley Law School. Laila Tarraf was the Chief People Officer for Peet's Coffee and Tea, the iconic Berkeley coffee roaster that launched the craft coffee movement in America, but she had a secret: she was failing in the most important relationships in her life. Yes, she was a strong and effective business leader, the successful daughter of immigrants, and the mother of a toddler, but she was disconnected from her own feelings and had little patience for the feelings of others. All that changed when life handed her a trifecta of losses: her husband died of an accidental drug overdose, and her parents' deaths followed in quick succession. Laila had spent her life leading from the head, convinced that any display of vulnerability would make her soft. And it did, but soft turned out to be strong. As she reconnected to her heart, one painful step at a time, something remarkable happened: she became a better leader, a better mother, and a better person. Her heart turned out to be the true source of her power, at home and at work. This is a book about healing, about waking up, about learning who you are -- who you really, truly are at the core -- and reclaiming and embracing all the pieces of yourself you had long abandoned in the name of survival. For women longing for balance, this is a path to opening our hearts and infusing our leadership and relationships with love, compassion, and authenticity. Wilson — the author of "The Human Side of Changing Education: How to Lead Change with Clarity, Conviction, and Courage." When we ask schools to change, we are asking human beings to change, and this requires special tools and a human-centered approach. Change the heart of the system by enabling the hearts and minds of those who make schools work. Learn to make sense of challenging change journeys and accelerate implementation with this practical framework that includes human-centered tools, resources, and mini case studies: Understand why resistance is to be expected and how to get through it; Discover three different kinds of change strategies and when to use which one; Learn how to use the "messy middle" of change, where real transformation happens. Julie M. Wilson is the founder and executive director of the Institute for the Future of Learning, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping transform the 'one size does not fit all' model of education. She has over fifteen years' experience building effective learning environments that unlock human potential and enable organizational culture to adapt and grow during times of change.
