Healing Arts: Rediscovering Your Life

— "What if you are only ever to be yourself in pieces? What if "you" is too rich a masterpiece For someone to view as a whole? So you are forced to break yourself down Into digestible pieces, Like light you secretly contain all But people can only view what is reflected back to them. Sometimes I wonder if sunlight gets lonely. To be seen it has to lose itself in another So it cannot be without another, But with another it is never itself. I often feel like sunlight: The soft orange glow gliding hesitantly up the sidewalk at dawn, The harsh midday glare outlining mistakes made, The sunset fighting against its own retreat. People never notice the warmth I provide Until they lose it to the seasons. — writes Nicole in her book "A Life Cycle" Valeria interviews Nicole Asherah — she is the author of" A Life Cycle: A Guide to Healing and Rediscovering Your Life." Nicole Asherah is the young, debut author of an inspiring and moving poetry book, A Life Cycle: A Guide to Healing and Rediscovering Your Life. Her goal, with her words and art, is to break your heart with the raw emotion that her pieces evoke. She hopes you find joy in heartbreak -- as she always does. She is an artist whose main mediums are poetry, film photography, and abstract oil painting -- but she has a habit of dabbling in whatever sparks her creative juices. Switching between mediums of expression, Nicole tries to connect readers to intimate moments, feelings, and relationships experienced throughout life. She recently had two short stories published in literary magazines. Her adventurous and curious spirit led her to backpack by herself, as a teen, across 15 countries. The University of Roehampton in England offered her to attend its Creative Writing Poetry MFA program. Despite her not having a bachelor's degree, they were drawn to her ability to describe the abstract feeling of emotions in a way that resonates with all types of people. Nicole employs this skill to help others come closer to the emotions they experience so they can name them, process, and release them. Nicole, raised by a psychologist, was a peer counselor from ages 11-16. She has volunteered with Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) and other grassroots organizations that have synthesized to give her a broad understanding of people's individual struggles and how to capture them in art. She is an intersectional feminist who is focused on social justice, the environment, and criminal justice. She is an artist in the truest sense of the word. She is masterful in her penetrating word use to captivate her audience. She looks at life through a lens of curiosity and empathy to holistically portray raw emotional experiences in the medium (art, poetry, and photography) that will resonate with viewers most. She resides in Los Angeles, California. Know Yourself: Be Conscious Of What You Want

— "I am back to where I am meant to be, back to pure source energy that I am a part of, the energy that we are all a part of—we are ONE from the creator of the Universe. Each one of us is an extension, a branch of that energy in physical form. We are the same in spiritual form, thus different in physical form. We are brothers and sisters with different abilities, mindsets, and paradigms so that we can cocreate with each other with the union of pure energy, our source, the Infinite Intelligence. The life that each one of us has experienced in this world is unique to each and everyone. The ones who are similar attract each other in the vibrational world, and together, they create momentum, either good or bad. The power of choice is vested in each individual, and it is what it is. The Foundation For A Healthy Partnership In Life

— In this episode, Dr. Paola Lake discusses the topic of laying the foundation to find a healthy partnership in life. She is trained in both Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and Gottman Couples Therapy and has come to understand what qualities are important to sustain a healthy vibrant relationship, but also what qualities are important to choose a partner who will be compatible and life enhancing. All too often people fall into patterns when seeking relationships which results in unfortunate repeated disappointment and heartache. As one psychologist, Dr. Larry Waterman, has said, "we spend more time considering what type of car we want, then what type of partnership we want." Our quest for a partnership may be driven by a need for companionship, fear of loneliness, or sexual attraction. However, without laying the groundwork to choose a right partner, we may be caught in repeated struggles and eventually become disillusioned about the prospect of finding a compatible partner. Dr. Lake provides some strategies and reflections as you open yourself up to considering a relationship. Valeria Teles interviews Dr. Paola Lake — a Rehabilitation Psychologist, Podcaster, And Speaker Dr. Paola Lake has a passion for helping people heal and recover from past trauma and adversity so that they can release the burdens of their past, overcome emotional blocks, and develop tools and strategies to help them realize their potential and achieve personal goals. Dr. Lake adopts a mind-body approach to healing. She strives to help people create enduring change that manifests itself in the form of greater clarity, self-compassion, an increased sense of possibility, greater connectedness to others and self, an ability to be present in the here and now, and a heightened sense of self-efficacy in their lives. Dr. Lake, owner of Lake Professional Psychology Corporation provides services to the general public, as well as police officers and veterans to help them heal from exposure to trauma and the darker side of human tendencies. She draws from over 20 years of experience working with survivors of sexual abuse, accident victims, psychiatric clients, and those suffering from low self-esteem, grief, anxiety, or depression. As well as work in private practice, Dr. Lake hosts a podcast, The Dr. Lake Show. The focus of this show is to provide a platform to dialogue with experts and to provide insights about mental health, building resilience, healing from the past, and realizing personal dreams. Eye Patches: Treating & Preventing Blindness In Children

— "If vision therapy is a method in which to make the eye and the brain train together so they can work better together, what is patching? Patching trains one eye to work harder to catch up with the other. This is not a scientific description - but - if one eye is communicating and working better with the brain it is dominating use of the brain. Patching helps so that good eye can take a time out so the brain has some time to work with the weaker eye. Being a parent faced with the choices of VT or patching is not a simple place to be. But working at all to try to make the vision and the eyes better is the goal. Respecting varied methods seems to make sense. Paige would love to see more case studies and vision therapy become covered for the families who want to have it. Ideally, maybe doctors and vision therapists could start working together more and the length of time these patchers have to work can become less." Valeria interviews Paige Brattin — She is the founder of See Worthy Patches. Paige was born and raised in New Jersey, and has since relocated to Hawaii — where she's flourished as an entrepreneur and lived for more than 20 years. After founding her first company, a maternity boutique in Honolulu, she sold the business in 2008 to focus on motherhood after the birth of her first daughter, Eddy in 2009, who inspired the creation of See Worthy Patches. At 5-years-old, an annual checkup detected that Eddy had symptoms of refractive amblyopia — a treatable condition that stunts the development of vision. Treatment required her to wear an eye patch for several hours a day. Shortly thereafter, See Worthy Patches was born. Paige is a devoted wife, mother, sister and daughter, and draws inspiration from her family — and families with similar plights. Her professional focus is solely on See Worthy Patches, and she relies on her experiences as a former educator to connect with kids and parents who stand to benefit from her product. The Art Of Coaching: Inner Work & Transformation

— "I speak to so many people who want to be coaches and would be amazing at it, but they're just not sure they have what it takes. Maybe they lack confidence … Maybe they're concerned they need to be a great marketer …Or perhaps they're just stressed out about the fact they don't know whether or not they can help people. And it's made even worse by all the "gurus" around, telling you how to make 6 figures investing heavily into paid ads, it's hard to know who to trust. But here's the thing... People need you, and they need you to show up for them. They don't care about a website, how many years you've got under your belt, overpriced qualifications, or any of that. They just want you to help them have a breakthrough, and serve them powerfully. And anyone with a passion for coaching and helping people can do that. We've seen coaches go from having zero clients to 5-figure months in just a few weeks. People who struggled with undercharging, or even asking clients for money at all, to confidently enroll high-paying clients at higher fees, 100% ethically. And even men and women who'd completely given up on their dreams of being a coach… They've been able to leave their job in as little as 90 days, and go all-in on their high-paying, high-impact coaching business leaving them feeling fulfilled. See, the reason most aspiring coaches stay stuck where they are is down to one thing: They Struggle with Limiting beliefs. Beliefs like - "I'm worried my services aren't good enough" — "I don't have enough experience to help clients." — "I'm scared to ask anyone for money, or that they might think I'm too expensive." But when you get over these limiting beliefs, guess what happens next? Magic happens. You'll start having powerful and meaningful conversations…Develop unshakeable belief! "— Says Ryan Valeria Teles interviews Ryan Mathie — He is the author of "Coaching Business Breakthroughs with Ryan Mathie." Ryan is a coach, and expert in and expert in personal and professional development who is best known for helping new and ambitious coaches build their businesses as the Co-Founder and CEO of 'High-Performing Coach' since 2019. The Power of Self Talk

— "You are everything that is: your thoughts, your life, your dreams come true. You are everything you choose to be. You are as unlimited as the endless universe." Learning to manage, control, and direct the resources of your own mind is the greatest opportunity you will ever have. Until recently we didn't even know the name of our greatest adversary––that wall which has confined us to the smallest part of what we could have been. The adversary has been us. It is the thoughts which we have thought. It is our own thinking which has created the limited self-portraits of who we believed ourselves to be. Our technology has given us the tools, and science has shown us the way. Our emerging understanding of our own human brain has pointed us in the right direction. We have learned that what we do, and what we do with us, is not an accidental happening. We have learned that who we are and what we are is the result of more than a chance combination of genetic inclinations. We have learned that what happens next––for each of us––is more up to us than we might have thought: it is up to what we think. Talk to yourself. Learn the words––the right words––and use them. Make your self-talk a positive, everyday, self-directing habit. Talk to yourself in a way that is kind, loving, caring, strong, demanding, and determined. Talk to yourself in the right way, every day. When you do, you will give yourself the greatest gift you will ever give. – writes Shad Helmstetter in "What To Say When You Talk To Your Self." Valeria interviews Megan Barken — She is an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker, providing therapy services in her mental health private practice in Saint Louis, Missouri. She also works part-time at a prison re-entry community program called Concordance Academy, where she works with men and women getting out of prison and re-integrating into the community. Driven by her passion to help and serve others, she takes great pride in utilizing a variety of different therapy interventions to create an individualized therapeutic approach to each client. Megan's primary focus areas in therapy are depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use disorders and addiction, self esteem issues, women's issues, blended families, pre-marital and marital, and relationship issues. Her clientele consists of teens, adults, and couples. Megan graduated with a Bachelor's Degree of Human Services from Fontbonne University, and graduated summa cum laude from Saint Louis University with a Master's Degree of Social Work. Outside of work, she has a beautiful, blended family of 4 children with her husband Peter, with one on the way! The Healing Power of Storytelling

— "My healing is about releasing, evolving, and integrating. It's about engaging, overcoming, recovering, and repairing. t's seeing the possibilities in every grain of sand as ocean waves bring coolness to my feet. My healing means putting the right label on what I'm feeling. It's unwinding what is inside of me so that I can forgive myself And making amends so that I can forgive others. It lives in letting go.
