In this latest vlog from my YouTube channel, Shelf Stories, I put forward what I think is the common ground for most gamers here in the hobby. To a certain extent, no matter our race, class, or demographic, so many us are freaks and geeks, not considered "normal" (whatever that means) in the larger society. We use the opportunity of gaming as a space where we can be our authentic, geeky selves in safety and peace. We certainly have our divides and disagreements. Heated discussions around diversity and inclusion will continue. But I think good conversations can happen when we all start from this common understanding.

He joins Jason's Industry Nuts and Bolts series to share personal stories about five years working for Broken Token. These were fulfilling years for Derek, but also difficult ones, mainly due to the management style of the former regime at Broken Token.
