3 - Karen Kimsey House: How Letting Go Leads To Coaching Mastery

Karen has been coaching since 1988 and is one of the true pioneers in the field. She is the co-founder of CTI, one of the largest coach training schools in the world and co-author of the coaching bible, Co Active Coaching. I love talking with Karen - I never quite know where we’re going to end up, but this was a stunning conversation! Karen talks about walking through the gateway to coaching mastery. We can let go of trying to look good, to get it right or even get somewhere, trusting that by doing so something powerful can come through the coaching. A picture emerges of the coach in deep service to their client and the ways this can catalyse their development. A beautiful moment is when Karen shares the motivations at the core of her coaching and how they fuel the work she does. Jim Dethmer has been coaching for nearly three decades and it shows. He's the founder of the Conscious Leadership Group and co-author of the acclaimed book - The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership. In this episode we explore a powerful transition we can make in our coaching, from what Jim calls 'By Me' coaching to 'Through Me' coaching. By Me coaching is a great place to be. We are empowered. A master of our training, experts and in control. But can also become a safe place to coach from. If we are to access our coaching genius then we need to surrender our tight grip and open to something greater than us, that can come 'through us' to permeate the coaching. Jim shows us the gateways to making this powerful shift! A list of resources mentioned in the podcast can be found here: https://www.coachesrising.com/podcast/jim-dethmer-coaching-from-source/
