This Feels Criminal: A True Crime Podcast (Formerly Killer Queens)
This Feels Criminal | Formerly Killer Queens | Daylight Media
There’s always more to the story. We grew up on Dateline, survived the era of AOL chatrooms, and now we’re asking the deeper, more difficult questions. Formerly known as Killer Queens, Tyrella and Nikita return with This Feels Criminal—a thoughtful evolution of the true crime conversation for an audience that’s grown up right alongside us.
The Perspective
After eight years and hundreds of cases, Tyrella has undergone a total deconstruction of the genre. Moving from the "if they confessed, they’re guilty" mindset to a deep understanding of systemic failures, her goal is to turn listeners into savvy jurors who know how to look past the surface. She is joined by Nikita, a practicing attorney who provides the legal literacy and technical breakdown needed to navigate the complexities of the justice system.
The Vibe
Think of us as your smart, slightly sarcastic filters for the chaos of all that feels criminal. We aren’t here for the shock value or the sensationalism; we’re here for the nuance. We dive deep into media framing, legal hurdles, and the psychology behind the headlines—all while maintaining an emotionally safe space and that signature dry millennial humor.
What’s In The Feed
From weekly flagship cases and trial analysis to documentary deep-dives, TFC is a home for the intellectually curious. We believe in education over exploitation and context over clickbait. It’s a research-driven, human-centered look at the stories that feel just a little too criminal to ignore.

231: Jeffrey MacDonald
On February 17th, 1970, 26-year-old Jeffrey MacDonald called 911, saying that there’d been a stabbing at his home and people were dying. MacDonald, a Green Beret, lived on the Army base in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Military police responded quickly to the MacDonald house to find a horrific scene: 26-year-old Colette and the MacDonald’s two daughters, five-year-old Kimberley and two-year-old Kristen had been stabbed and bludgeoned to death. MacDonald, however, was still alive with only minor injuries. His story quickly began to unravel to investigators as he continued to blame the murders on a group of intruders, whom he described as “drug-crazed hippies”. Was MacDonald telling the truth or had he murdered his family in a fit of rage, then staged it to look like a copycat Manson murder?

229: 229: David Crespi: Failed by the System or Child Killer?
On January 20, 2006, Kim Crespi came home to her beautiful house in Matthews, North Carolina after a hair appointment, only to be stopped by a police barricade. She was informed that her two, five-year-old twin daughters, Tess and Sammie, had been murdered, and her husband, David, had confessed and was in police custody. David, a man who had never outwardly shown any signs of violence or aggression. A man who, to his friends, co-workers, and family, seemed like a hard-working, loving, and happy person. Even more frightening than the reality that David had murdered two of his daughters, was the likelihood that David would have murdered his wife and remaining 3 children had they been home. What could have caused this husband and father to brutally kill his two twin girls? Was it a conscious choice he made or was it induced by his recent changes in medication prescribed for his depression and anxiety?
TRIGGER WARNINGS: child murder, depression and mental health, heavy medication use

TRIGGER WARNING: drug use, heavy alcohol use
In the early morning hours of June 3, 2011, 20-year-old college sophomore, Lauren Spierer, disappeared off the face of the earth. After a night of heavy drinking and reported drug use, Lauren, extremely intoxicated, was said to have left a friend’s apartment, alone, barefoot, and without any of her belongings, and began walking towards her apartment. Or were the “friends” she’d been with all night covering up Lauren’s death, whether it had been intentional or accidental?

222: The [Unsolved] Murder of Susan Powell- Part 2
Part 2 of 2
**TRIGGER WARNINGS** murder, child murder, domestic abuse, violent death, child pornography, Suicide
On December 7, 2009, 28-year-old Susan Powell didn’t show up to work. She never dropped her two sons off at daycare. Nobody could reach her and she hadn’t been seen since the night before. Her sons and her husband were also nowhere to be found. Within a few hours, Josh, Charlie, and Braden Powell had been located, but Susan was still missing. Josh said that he’d taken their boys on a spontaneous camping trip the night before. In a snowstorm. In Utah. In December. He said that they’d left Susan at home and had no idea where she was. The investigation that followed revealed a crumbling marriage weighed down by Josh Powell’s controlling and abusive behavior. Unfortunately, before investigators were able to determine Josh’s exact role in Susan’s disappearance, he made one last horrific play for power, giving a middle finger to his wife’s family and friends, taking the last pieces of evidence to his grave.
