AUDIO ARTICLE || Medicare will be insolvent in 7 years, Social Security in 16. Dems still plan on expanding benefits
Medicare will be insolvent in 7 years, Social Security in 16. Dems still plan on expanding benefits Medicare faces insolvency by 2026, and Social Security by 2035- and no one seems to care. How long can we act like this isn't a problem? After watching the Democratic Debates on Wednesday night, one thing is certain: No one cares about the National Debt, and no one cares about the budget deficit. In fact, even though our major programs are nearly out of money, everyone seems dead-set on expanding them. To be fair, Republican's don't seem to care either. We're running Obama-era deficits while working in a "healthy" economy, and even plans like Rand Paul's 2% cut to the budget were dead-on-arrival. A Brief History of Iran/U.S. Relations || EP 164
Yesterday, the US military killed top Iranian military leader Gen. Qasem Soleimani in a targeted assassination via drone strike in Baghdad, Iraq. This attack was no doubt in reaction to an attack on the US Embassy in Iraq that took place over the holiday. That attack, was in retaliation for an attack U.S. forces carried out on five Kataeb Hezbollah facilities in Iraq and Syria on Sunday. Those airstrikes were in retaliation for an attack on Dec. 27, in which an American contractor was killed and several U.S. military service members were wounded in a 30-plus rocket barrage on a military base near Kirkuk, in northern Iraq. AUDIO ARTICLE || If you want a "Worker-Owned" business, you're free to start one
If you want a "Worker-Owned" business, you're free to start one There are no laws stating that a group of workers cannot group together and form a cooperative business. Why aren't these popping up everywhere? Because it's a bad idea. Sanders and Warren have both introduced plans to turn over ownership of America's largest corporations to the workers. Sanders' plan would require all public companies to offer 20% ownership of their company to their workers. In addition to the issuance of new stock, the workers would also have "Right of first refusal" if the company wants to offer itself up for sale. Who will finance the purchase of the company if the workers don't have the capital to purchase the company? The government, of course. AUDIO ARTICLE || No Bernie, Women Don't Have a 'Constitutional Right' to a Taxpayer-Funded Abortion
No Bernie, Women Don't Have a 'Constitutional Right' to a Taxpayer-Funded Abortion Yesterday, Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders made yet another wild and unfounded statement on twitter: "Abortion is a constitutional right- Not a privilege for those that can afford it." Let's be clear about the argument laid out in this tweet. Bernie isn't even having a conversation about whether or not abortion should be legal. He's moving past that, and now stating that not only should they be legal, but you have a "constitutional right" to an abortion paid for by other people. The problem he's pinpointing is not abortion's legality, but the terrible tragedy of only rich people being able to afford abortions. Sanders loosely derives this conclusion from the famous Supreme Court case of Roe v. Wade. But remember, Roe v. Wade did not lay out that the government should use taxpayer money to subsidize abortions. It simply said that the 4th Amendment protected a woman's privacy in this matter. AUDIO ARTICLE || Elon Musk is proof that Warren's "Wealth Tax" is a terrible idea
Elon Musk is proof that Warren's "Wealth Tax" is a terrible idea Democratic candidates like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren have championed an idea so bad it was ditched by nine countries in Europe, including Denmark, and Sweden. Despite claiming to push "Scandinavian style Socialism," both candidates seem to be in favor of policies even those countries thought were terrible ideas. Musk is a perfect example of the flawed ideology behind a wealth tax. Even though Musk is a "billionaire" worth $26.6 billion, Musk only has about $200 million in liquid assets. How is it that there is such a large discrepancy between net worth, and liquid assets? Easy. Most of Musk's net worth is in his ownership of SpaceX, and Tesla Motors. By most, I mean 99.2% of his net worth, or roughly $26.4 billion. AUDIO ARTICLE || Why I'll Continue to Choose Individual Liberty Over Fairytales of a Socialist Utopia
Why I'll continue to choose Individual Liberty over Fairytales of a Socialist Utopia Why Free-Market Capitalism? Doesn't it promote greed, fraud, abuse, and any other terrible thing you can think of? Humans are greedy. Humans are dishonest. Humans want the most they can get from the least amount of effort. Yes, Capitalism has shown us how these qualities can become exaggerated, and might even lead to "exploitation," but there's just one problem.. The same human beings exist under Socialism, as well. This does not mean that we should give up on becoming better people, but it does mean that we should not ignore the reality of humanity in front of us. When contemplating an economic and social system, you have to ask the following question: Which system, when it's corrupted by evil men, has the best chance of creating a better life for the most amount of people possible? That answer, has been proven time and time again throughout history. Yes, Free-Market Capitalism rewards greed, but under true Free-Market Capitalism, those who seek to take advantage of others are forced to provide the people with things they want. They are forced to provide the best service while knowing that others have the opportunity to rise, and compete against them. Don't agree? Try starting a business that specializes in providing things that people don't want.. AUDIO ARTICLE || How the "Okay Symbol" Became the Latest Media-Fabricated Controversy
How the "Okay Symbol" Became the Latest Media-Fabricated Controversy We've all heard the story by now, but if you haven't, here's the latest controversy. Cadets at West Point, and the Naval Academy were seen at the Army/Navy football game giving the "Okay symbol" on camera while a broadcaster for ESPN hyped up the game. An investigation has now been launched into the cadets involved, and whether or not these cadets were indeed flashing a "white-power" symbol on camera for the world to see. When exactly did this become a symbol for White-supremacy? The controversy itself can be linked back to the notorious discussion board site "4chan." The Anti-Defamation League traced this movement to its original source, and released an article detailing the chain of events back in May of 2017: READ THE REST AT GOODMORNINGLIBERTY.US --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/goodmorningliberty/support Learn more about your ad choices. AUDIO ARTICLE || Obamacare is Further Proof That "Medicare for All" Wouldn't Work
Obamacare is Further Proof That "Medicare for All" Wouldn't Work Over the past week, we've seen the quiet, but deadly dismantling of the remaining parts of the massive program. Within the $1.4 trillion spending bill passed by Congress and signed by President Trump, we saw a much needed removal of the tax on so-called "Cadillac" insurance plans. That's right, employers and insurance companies were actually being punished for offering insurance plans that were too good. Why? Among other reasons, the simplest would be that if the taxpayers are subsidizing insurance, we don't want the insurance to be too expensive to start out with. Then, the government could be accused of not wanting to subsidize plans that only the rich could afford. The answer? Do your best to make those plans illegal, or at least remove them from the equation.
