This week we speak with Dr. Drew Hart. Drew G. I. Hart is a professor in theology, an author, and an activist with ten years of pastoral experience. His undergraduate work was in biblical studies at Messiah College, he received his Masters of Divinity degree with an urban concentration at Biblical Seminary, and he recently defended his dissertation in the field of theology and ethics at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. Currently he is a part-time professor for several PA seminaries and schools but in the Fall of 2016 he begins teaching full-time as an assistant professor in theology at Messiah College. Drew spent most of his young adult years leading and mentoring black and brown youth as a pastor, working for an inner city after-school program, and working closely with Philadelphia based nonprofits. Today, along with teaching theology, Drew is currently passionate about partnering with community groups and churches to facilitate anti-racism training and seminars, as well as delivering lectures, talks, and sermons. Regularly speaking at churches, conferences, and colleges, Drew brings together his pastoral experience with his academic training to challenge the Church on a variety of topics. He has been particularly invested in conversations on white supremacy and racism and their entanglements with western Christianity, but Drew also speaks and writes about Christian discipleship, western Christendom, Christian history, liberation and oppression, peacemaking and nonviolent resistance, urban ministry, social media, etc. Drew has a Christian Century hosted blog entitled ‘Taking Jesus Seriously’, while also writing occasionally for The Mennonite as well. This week we speak with Dr. Catherine Keller. Catherine is Professor of Constructive Theology at the Theological School of Drew University. In her teaching, lecturing and writing, she develops the relational potential of a theology of becoming. Her books reconfigure ancient symbols of divinity for the sake of planetary conviviality – a life together, across vast webs of difference. Thriving in the interplay of ecological and gender politics, of process cosmology, poststructuralist philosophy and religious pluralism, her work is both deconstructive and constructive in strategy. Keller has taught since 1986 in the Theological and Philosophical Studies Area of Drew’s Graduate Division of Religion. After studies in Heidelberg and in seminary, she did her doctoral work at Claremont Graduate University with John B. Cobb, Jr., and remains involved with the Center for Process Studies. Through her leadership of the Drew Transdisciplinary Theological Colloquium since its inception in 2000, she fosters with colleagues and graduate students a hospitable context for its far reaching annual conversations. The TTC has yielded a path-breaking series of co-edited volumes. She also enjoys the monthly conviviality of gatherings in which Ph.D. students discuss their work in progress. Dr. Greg Boyd is back! In this episode we take another look at alternate theories of Hell, in particular, Annihilationsm. Greg Boyd is an internationally recognized theologian, preacher, teacher, apologist and author. Guest Info/Bio: This week we speak with Dr. Richard Beck. Richard Beck is Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychology at Abilene Christian University. He is the author of Unclean, The Authenticity of Faith, The Slavery of Death, and Reviving Old Scratch. Richard's published research also covers topics as diverse as the psychology of profanity to why Christian bookstore art is so bad. Richard leads a bible study each week for fifty inmates at the maximum security French-Robertson unit, and any given week Richard drives the van, preaches or washes dishes at Freedom Fellowship, a church feeding and reaching out to those on the margins. Finally, on his popular blog Experimental Theology Richard will spend enormous amounts of time writing about the theology of Johnny Cash, the demonology of Scooby-Doo or his latest bible class on monsters.
