Do the Work: How to Stop the Cycle of Self-Sabotage with Gary John Bishop

Most of us are sabotaging ourselves without even knowing it. How can we become aware of the negative self-talk that's holding us back in life? And more importantly, how can we teach our kids to debunk their own self-limiting beliefs? In this episode, we have one of our most popular guests back just in time for 2020—the one and only Gary John Bishop. He's the NY Times Bestselling author of Unf*ck Yourself and Stop Doing That Sh*t. He was a speaker at The Dad Edge Summit 2018, and this is his 4th interview with us on The Dad Edge Podcast. Gary has just released a workbook to accompany Unf*ck Yourself called Do the Work, and he is going to make us do that work today! Gary talks about the three categories we need to address in life to break free from self-limiting beliefs. He tells us how to get real with our own bullsh*t and about how we interact with others. He also talks about why the idea of "finding" your purpose is flawed and what you really need to show up big in your life. If you're familiar with Gary John Bishop, you already know what's coming. How to Be the Father Your Kids Need with former Navy SEAL Luis Rivera

How can you learn how to be a good dad if your father wasn't there for you? What does it mean to be a good dad? How can you learn to be the father your kids need? Today we have retired Navy SEAL Senior Chief Luis Rivera on the show. He served with the SEALs for 24 years and was featured in Discovery Channel's documentary Navy SEALs BUDs Class 234. What to Expect When You Go Alcohol-Free

Are you concerned about your alcohol intake? It's the peak season for drinking. Many guys waking up with a nasty hangover will wonder what it would be like to give up alcohol for awhile. But we worry. Wouldn't it be boring? What would our friends think? How would we relax at the end of the day? Today we have everyday dad and Dad Edge Alliance member, Darren Bellew on the show. After 35 years of drinking, he decided to try a 30-day detox. Once he reached that milestone, Darren experienced the benefits of being alcohol-free and just kept going. More than a year later, Darren is still alcohol-free. Instead of feeling deprived, he has more energy, more time, better performance, and a deeper connection with his family. Darren has built a better relationship with himself, learning to solve his problems rather than putting them off by drinking. If you're thinking of taking a break from the beer and the booze in 2020, this episode will help you understand what to expect when you go alcohol-free!
