BONUS: Drone Life News 001 – 2021 FAA Symposium, BVLOS Flights, World’s Smallest microLiDAR, Sony Airpeak S1
2021 FAA Symposium, BVLOS Flights, World's Smallest microLiDAR, Sony Airpeak S1, DJI News, DOD Clears Government Approved DJI Drones and Much, Much More...
In the first-ever edition of Drone Life News, we are joined by the incredible Miriam McNabb of DroneLife and JobforDrones to share with us some of the latest and most exciting news from the world of drones.
Our biggest story this week is about the 2021 FAA Symposium.
One of the most important events of the drone world, the 2021 FAA Symposium concluded last week. And one of the most significant developments from the symposium was the announcement of a new ARC for BVLOS flights. The FAA also shared some important information regarding remote-id and how they plan to ensure compliance.
Towards the end of the show, we draw interesting parallels between the drone industry and the automobile industry - and debate whether remote-id will lead to safer airspace. And result in wider adoption of drones.
Certainly, you do not want to miss this segment of the show.
Other topics discussed on today's show include the all-new Sony Airpeak S1, the world's smallest micorLiDAR, and some latest updates on the industry leader, DJI.

BONUS: Lemur by BRINC Drones – A Unique Public Safety Drone with a Wide Range of Applications
A one-of-a-kind drone that can be used in law enforcement, firefighting, SWAT operations, and much, much more...
Today's show is a special one as we are joined by Angad from Brinc Drones who explains to us the powerful capabilities of their newest drone, Lemur.
Lemur is a public safety drone with a difference. This heavily accessorized drone can be used as a law enforcement drone, as a firefighting drone, and by SWAT teams to conduct their operations with greater efficiency and safety.
One of the biggest USPs of this drone is its ability to fly in confined spaces. This Lidar-based drone comes with night vision and can be repaired easily in case you ram it into a wall. And that's not all. You can even break glass, drop payloads, and open doors with the Lemur. The Lemur is powered by a Li-ion battery - which gives you a longer flight time. And is a far safer option compared to LiPo batteries. So, don't miss this special show.
Tune in to learn more about this pathbreaking product designed by BRINC drones!

ADU 01191: Which are Some of the Best Drones for Agriculture and Construction?
Today's show is about drones for agriculture and construction.
What are some of the best (and more affordable) options for applications like agricultural spraying, NDVI, and construction mapping?
Our caller for today, Peter, all the way from Hungary has an excellent question about using drones for agriculture and construction. Peter recently went through our Comprehensive Mapping course and is now keen to start a drone mapping business, and he is on a tight budget of $9,000. Specifically, he is planning on providing his drone services to the agricultural and construction sectors.
On today's show, we first discuss the Phantom 4 Pro RTK. Is the P4 RTK a good choice for mapping large tracts of land? Can you expect to achieve cm-level accuracy with this much-hyped DJI drone? We move on to discuss the nuances of some other larger, more expensive drones like the DJI Agras, the Yamaha RMAX, and the P4 Multispectral.
Towards the end, we have an animated discussion about the traditional surveying industry as we know it - and why it is ripe for disruption. Enjoy!

ADU 01189: Should I Classify My Drone as “Remote-ID” Compliant During Registration?
Our caller for Tom has come up with a great question today. His question is about drone remote-id.
While drone remote-id is set to kick in only by 2023, FAADroneZone is already asking drone pilots to classify their drone as "remote-id" enabled when they attempt to register their drone.
Needless to say, this is resulting in a lot of confusion - and many drone pilots are preferring to avoid completing the registration process rather than inputting erroneous information.
So, should you classify your drone as "remote-id enabled" during registration?
Is your drone "remote-id" enabled? How can find out?
